Today the President, the People’s Assembly, and the Supreme Court had
a showdown. But the Army is surely watching. And on that showdown hangs
the future of Egypt and whether it will go to war again.
Morsi recalled
the People’s Assembly, thus openly defying the Court. The Assembly sat
for five minutes. But it also said it would get other legal opinions on
whether the Supreme Court acted properly last June.
The Supreme Court swiftly answered the President and Assembly. They ruled
that Morsi had no legal right to recall the Assembly. Several people
gathered in Liberation Square in Cairo to protest the ruling.
So now, as the Los Angeles Times said (even before the Court ruled today), the President and the Army are fighting for power. The Times
seems to think that the Army must be careful not to rile the people, or
Egypt’s treaty partners. The editors also said that this is only the
beginning.
Barack H. Obama, putative President of the US, doesn’t seem to want
to say out loud whom he wants to win this fight. Yesterday he said he
would meet Morsi at the White House this September, when the UN General
Assembly meets. Now (according to UPI) he says he’ll see Morsi at the UN.
Morsi has gone all-out, and is fighting to win. If he blinks before
the Army now, no one in the Middle East will take him seriously. The
world will know that he can threaten to break treaties and go to war all
he wants, but if the Army does not want to march, it will not march.
To win, Morsi will have to replace the commanding field marshal and
maybe every general with any real authority. The only questions then
will be:
- How fast will Egypt break its treaty with Israel? And:
- Can Morsi find a general who can succeed where Nasser’s and Sadat’s generals failed so miserably in 1967 and 1973?
So what say you? Will Morsi win his wrestling match with the Army? Or will he lose?

Can you say, "caught between a rock and a hard place?"
Kinda like choosing who to vote for here in November...
The bit about destroying the pyramids removed any doubt as who needs to go.
Edit:
I misread the question and chose the wrong answer and this time it happened without SH help.
The Turkish Army kept the country on an even secular keel in accordance with the Constitution created by Ataturk. Since the politicians have gained control, Turkey is becomings a supporter of Islamic terrs.
There is no democracy in a Moslem world.
As to your anology of islam and Christians, there is no anology. Christians no longer do bad things, no longer force convertion, no longer kill you if you leave, or convert to another religion, or if you marry a somene out side of the marriage, Christians do not burn, rape, slit your throat, stone women to death for rape, indoctrinate their children to hate non-believers, and learn how to kill using weapons, (e.g. AK47) do not carry out female genital mutiliation on children, do not honour kill their children, no forced marriages, no subjugation of women, no sex slaves, no marrying a girl or child for one night to rape them, before discarding them, no hanging gays/transgenders, no hanging for having modern dress or clothes, or for criticising the faith, no marrying children off, (not even at 5, as was the case in England)...... Yet, islam still does all these things and has done so since its inception in the mind of a mentally unstable, disturbed man.
Honestly, there is no comparison.
that exist in this world, is any one that disagrees with you. In other words, your position is extremist.
Honestly, I am beginning to think you are off your rocker. Your replies bare no resemblemce to what I have typed. And that is not my point at all. You just cannot debate at all. No clue. You just spout nonsense and make stuff up that was never said. You are not just extremmist but, nuts.
I am going to find an adult now to have a sane conversation with. I shall let the men in the white coats know where you are so they can come and collect you in their white van and take you to a nice padded white cell where you will be able to talk to yourself, as that is all you have been doing all along here. Have fun.
By Moslem world I meant those ruled by Mad Mollos who are attempting to set up a world caliphate.
Indonesia does not fall into that category at this point, however, efforts by Indonesian Islamic terrs are attempting to do just that. These same Indonesian Islamic terrs are busy killing Christians, Animists, Pagans, and apostate & infidel Moslems.
Indonesia was much more democratic when Suharto saw the need to kill several thousand Communists and Islamic terrs. The problem is that Suharto no longer runs things.
The CIA definition of democracy does not apply to things in Indonesia.
Democracy as you want you define it is that if the people elect some mass murdering psychopath and that mass murdering psychopath orders them to kill everyone who does not hold the same view as Islamic terrs seeking to establish a caliphate.
BTW:
I have no idea why you would think that I care what anyone in Indonesia thinks. I have no idea why you would think I would care what a CIA whose main objective is to make themselves the most homosexual friendly organization 2d only to the GLBT deviants and I think I missed the initial for a group of degenerates.
Then there was that protest in Tahrir Square and they sure didn't look like the same people! They even raped women in that Square. Then everybody voted for Muslim candidates and I understood that but now they want to destroy the Great Pyramids and possibly start a civil war.
What happened to those fun people I met? They were Muslims for sure but they seemed very happy in our 'westernized' presence.
Whatever, it isn't OUR problem and I sure hope we stay out of it.
You also seem to have forgotten the age old system of taqiyya of lying and decietfulness, that is why they were nice to your face, as all muslims are, but behind your bath that hatred is still there that was there when they smiled to your face.
And no, I didn't forget Taqiyya and kitman..............but You DO know when you are having a genuinely good time. Now I DID ask one of the guys if he would hurt me and he said he would kill me if ordered to. But then he was a head banger and I would have expected that. I DO believe that Egyptians like to laugh and get it on even if you happen to have your body buried up to your chest!
You mean Egyptian copts? They are the real Egyptians and truly lovely people. Arab Egyptians, are not.
I don't care about a nuclear conflagration in the Middle East. Actually, I would welcome it. That part of the world needs to be wiped out because there is nothing good there. It's filled with violence and hatred. I don't believe in god but if I did, I would say even he destroyed nations because of their decadence. I would rather live with a a measure of radioactivity than terrorism.
At which point we need to carpet bomb them to Hell.
But we're only fanning the flames unless we go after Islam to destroy it. You can only live with cancer for so long before it gets you.
We had no business in Libya. We have no business in Syria.
I do not care how many people get killed on either side. Right now Syria is in an ideal position. That being they are killing each other and leaving decent folks alone.
We need to stay out of frays unless we intend to win and by that I mean let our guys fight like they did in WWII and I do not necessarily mean nukes unless they are about to nuke us.
I really do not care about being on the receiving end of so called moral blame. If we have been attacked, destroy them. Yes, the European Union (aka NATO) needs to clean up its act and build up a respectable military instead of us picking up the tab as we did in Libya.
There were a few warnings in the latter 1800s and early 1900s about the rising threat coming from Islam. For some reason, Liberal white guilt, in the latter 1900s and early 2000s, our leadership pretends that Islam is the religion of peace and tolerance.
If he is angling for a civil war with a populist uprising that would work in the brotherhoods favor he could be onto something. However, Egypt is not Libya and Syria so he could be miscalculating his relative position in the political totem pole that is Egypt.
