Ebay, Adobe, EA Games Leaving California For Utah Over Confiscatory Tax Rate.

Computer software giant Adobe, computer game monster EA Games, and Internet auction king ebay are abandoning California to set up shop in Utah. Why? California’s horrid business climate and high taxes.

Adobe Systems, maker of a suite of graphics programs such as Adobe
PDF, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, have announced that they are
building a $100 million facility in either Salt Lake City or in nearby
Utah County, Utah. The facility will bring thousands of jobs to Utah
over the next few decades.

In May the Internet auction company ebay also announced a major new
facility to be built in Salt Lake City. The $287 million data center
will also bring hundreds of new jobs to the Bee Hive State.

Not to be forgotten, games maker Electronic Arts opened its new
facility in July in Salt Lake City where around 100 employees are
already at work.

These companies fleeing California’s horrid business climate are not
alone. There has been a steady flow of businesses out of California for
the better part of a decade. As California’s political morass worsens,
as its budget woes increase, and as her politicians are proven incapable
of making the hard budgetary decisions to take power from unions and
chop unnecessarily lavish social programs, the state’s jobs are bleeding
out. California is an a freefall the end of which is still unseen.

Here is a partial list of the large and medium-sized companies that
have either moved parts of their business or have left the “land of milk
and honey” for brighter prospects altogether:

Alza Corp., American AVK

Sounds like Utah is benefitting from CA' s failures. I'm sure they are tired of paying taxes to support the illegals. I feel sorry for their employees.

Between Arn-Dolt, the lunatic legislature, and an electorate that votes for spending while voting down the means to pay for what they approve, it's a wonder we've survived as long as we have.

yup...I live in another Democratic hell hole: Wisconsin. a little state with 8 million people and we can compete with the big boys as far as terrible business climate, high taxes, budget deficits, etc. it's the liberal way. we were $7 billion in the hole last year and they increased spending 7% in this year's budget. we have to get these idiots out of government.

NY isn't far behind. as a matter of fact, look for a state with a strong FDR Democratic base, and you will also find falling population and an entitlement mentality.

i like the room, but i hate the taxes, the politicians, and the people.

Recall when Governor Paterson laughed about Rush Limbaugh leaving NY - ho ho ho. There went 30 million per year of taxable income. Too bad Paterson isn't gonna be able to run again - love a good belly laugh.

i live in cali. my dd and i pay more ca taxes than federal taxes! the local coal plant that is cleaner than any plant I have ever seen is lsing its contract with sce because libs want coal gone. that means at least 30 families in my small area of southern ca will lose an income of $60,000-80,000 EACH. i would leave if my house was not paid off. this once beautiful state has gone down the shicker!

Not a surprise. Even the cities in this state of mine (Ca) do it. I just heard a neighbor of a friends started a business in a neighboring city because the city we live in wanted to charge him 30 thousand to start his business. The neighboring city said come to us and pretty much didn't charge him a thing to start and helped him to find a location. So the bigger main city has lost out of future revenue all together. Ca gives so much of the State money away that it tries to get it back by over taxing everyone, just like the Feds.

All the liberal stupidity in California that has it's economy in the dumpster is the reason. The state has made it so hard for small businesses that the state of Nevada now has adds on TV telling Californians how wonderful it is for business in their state. All these years of liberal craziness has people and business leaving every day and the state still doesn't get it.

I can't say that I blame them. It doesn't make sense for a corporation to stay in a state that is draining them dry. Corporations owe it to their shareholders to make as much money as possible. If that means moving to a less restrictive state then that is hat they should do.

Wow, there are some big names in that list. California was once a beautiful state decades ago with lots to offer but the people have ruined it along with leftist hippie liberal ideology and politics. The state is overrun with illegal immigrants sucking the budget dry and as a result the state has had to pass the buck and bleed legitimate business entities and tax paying citizens. Nice going CA. Time to change the attitude although it may be too late for that.
