Appearing on NBCs “Meet the Press” on Sunday, President Barack Obama
said that he cut spending by more than $1 trillion in 2011. However, the
White House Office of Management and Budget says that federal spending
increased by $147 billion from fiscal 2010 to fiscal 2011.

Host David Gregory asked Obama: “Well, you talk about dysfunction in
Washington. You signed this legislation setting up the fiscal cliff 17
months ago. How accountable are you for the fact that Washington can’t
get anything done and that we are at this deadline again?”

Obama responded: “Well, I have to tell you, David, if you look at my
track record over the last two years, I cut spending by over a trillion
dollars in 2011.

“I campaigned on the promise of being willing to reduce the deficit
in a serious way, in a balanced approach of spending cuts and tax
increases on the wealthy while keeping middle class taxes low,” Obama
continued.

That was just the extra 1 trillion he was planning on spending but didnt. And dont worry, I'm sure he's extra pissed that he didnt get to slam the middle class again. He was chomping at the bit to tax middle class again. In order to wipe out America, he has to wipe out the middle class tax payers. I think he'd be perfect at the used car lot down the street....

I can understand one man such as Obama being delusional and doing the things he does and says. But what I cannot understand is how many American voters actually went out and cast their vote for this POS and stuck us with a far-left socialist/communist so-called "leader" who has demonstrated not one whit of honest, patriotic leadership but, instead, stands in front of America and tells us all how much he wants to "protect the middle class" and then blatantly paves the way for the annihilation of the middle class, pure and simple. How in the world can this country survive with that many blind idiots?

He is on a continual loop of talking points. I was actually able to sit through 5 minutes of this interview before I had to change it. This is the first time I tried to actually watch him since he was reelected.

Beginning Jan. 1, 2010 the national debt was $12,311,349,677,512.03, beginning Jan 1, 2011 the national debt was $14,025,215,218,708.52, so where was his cuts and saving? Go look it up and you will see the facts speak differently than Obama. As of today our debt is $16,336,461,552,606.35 and congress wants to add 1.5 trillion more to that figure this year without making any cuts to spending and as if that wasn't bad enough we have the 1.6 trillion health care bill coming.

This is a common political trick (read lie) that we get out of Washington. Some time ago a rule was put in place that all programs' budgets go up by something like 8% per year. So if someone like Obama comes in and knocks 3% off a program he says he cut 3%, but the program still grows by 5%.

Additionally, when pols talk about budget cut numbers they talk in terms of within 10 years.

So what Obama is really saying is he cut $100 billion per year off the rate of growth of the federal budget.

This is true of any recent pol.

Fact is, no one wants to be the guy that really cut spending kicked people off social programs or underfunded national security and so on.

Absolutely. The fact of the matter is that the biggest reason for the budget deficit the government has been working with is due to the economy being horrible. This has reduced revenue to the government more than anything.

Democrats are stubbornly clinging to the idea that tax increases will solve the problem, but it will only weaken the economy more. See California for a smaller scale example. They raised taxes and revenue has continued to drop.

But like I said, no one will be the guy who actually cuts programs.

Tax increases for the rich? How about cutting out the corporate welfare? That's where an astonishingly large amount of government money goes.
