Children from liberal households love to imitate the parochial speech patterns of their sanctimonious parents and teachers. You can just tell when someone isn't addressing you the way mature and mutually respectful adults do with each other.

Are you saying you don't like it when youth are politically involved?

    Two questions:
    1. Don't you think the policies of government impacts the youth just as much as it impacts the other generations?

    2. Is it fair if other generations get to be politically involved but not youth? now we may not have the experience you have, but your asking us to trust your judgment and not think about how your ideas impact us.

What also is not even fair, is it's the policies of government that are driving this nation into debt, and it's not you that's going to pay it off, it's me and my future children. Sorry, but I don't want to be paying the bills for the mistakes I didn't make.

Did YOU actually read the full question BEFORE going off on your tangent???

If you knew the actual history of the U.S. voting age laws, you would know that were it not for us "old farts" YOU(at 20 yrs. old) wouldn't be old enough to VOTE!!!

The 26th Amendment was passed in 1971 dropping the voting age from 21 to 18. This was entirely due to us arguing the fact that if we were "old enough" to be drafted into the military, we should have the right to VOTE!!! However, at 18, the MAJORITY of us were NOT performing "due diligence" concerning politics, NOR is the MAJORITY of the youth today!!!

As for your statement, "Sorry, but I don't want to be paying the bills for the mistakes I didn't make.", GET USED TO IT!!! The facts are, EVERY generation feels the SAME way, and EVERY generation WILL pay for their parents' mistakes!!!

So if the child is still on their parents medical plan until age 26 should they be allowed the right to vote?

I believe that as long as a "child" is considered "old enough" to enter the military they are "old" enough to vote, period!!!

I'm 18 myself and I have said stupid things, but I have also been told I have said smart things as well. It makes me a tad-bit mad when people tell me I have not lived life when I can say I've had more than my own share of misfortune and experiences. It's quite unfair to say my age would never allow me to have a real conversation.

The fact is, at 18 years of age, regardless of having "more than my own share of misfortune and experiences", YOUR experiences at that age are still FEW and FAR BETWEEN when placed alongside someone 50 years old!!! That does NOT mean that you aren't capable of having "a real conversation", it only means that, at 18 years old, you're in NO position to "SCHOOL", or "TEACH" a 50 year old on political or social issues.

I've seen and read a lot of comments from young people here on SH and they seem wiser, at times, than a lot of these older folks. The level of maturity is amazing.

I've met intelligent and respectful people of all ages who offer some great insight on certain subjects. Ironically a lot of adults I come across are rather set in their ways and tend to get nasty if you show some disagreement, and instead of debating they just name call and wrongly assume. The younger people are a bit nicer about it and are a bit more curious instead of offended.

Besides, I don't think you can associate age with knowing what the hell is going on around you.

Not all act like this, no, but being here for a few years gave me a bit of an opinion on it.

lol yeah that's funny, I know this kid personally, who thinks his life is bad, & he's always complaining about it. But if he lived my life he wouldn't have a thing to complain about with his life. I'm always telling him he's got nothing on me, but he seems to think he's got it worse.

seems to me the USA has alot less friends and allies around the world ever sense Obamna became president.
kinda dumb for americans not to listen to what people from othewr countrys now think of the usa, Unl;ess of course americans are ok with chasing all their allies and friends away.

I am in the middle of a discussion with a young lad of 19 from PA according to his profile. He talks about how it is in other countries based on what he has learned from school or reading, while I have been there and have the first hand experience, but he is gonna teach me good! ;)

I consider it a public service to help educate the ignorant, but while you can lead a horse to water, you can't make them drink.

I demanded my sons school to reteach what was taught about the W W I I about the japanese treatment of US soldiers ..I took in valid evidence about many camps & the treatment of prisioneers ..

my son argued w/ the teacher first ( said his grandpa was a POW in japan and the info they had was wrong ) ,,then I went in to back him ..w/ evidence ..they suspended that subject and changed the cirricullum , I offered to teach that subject ,,they declined ...
then the school board tried to say my evidence was tainted ,,but was actual testimony from prisioneers , pictures of released POWS and their physical conditions & apperances .. I won the arguement ....

they said the pictures were to graphic ... !

true but youth can not claim any experience , and it is wrong of young people to try and tell elders how we know less about things we have seen with our own eyes and lived than they do because they heard a speech by a popular guy -
