In a press conference this evening, the president referred in
stumbling fashion to the “English Embassy” in Iran instead of the
British Embassy. One can only imagine the kind of howls of derision that
would greet any presidential contender if that kind of basic error were
made before, say, the editorial board of the Milwaukee Journal
Sentinel. You can watch the video above.

In case the president is unaware, England forms part of Great
Britain, which also includes Scotland and Wales, though not Northern
Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom. There is no such thing as
an “English” embassy anywhere in the world, and there hasn’t been one
for several centuries.

*Urgent Update*

I just witnessed with my own eyes the removal of all videos concerning the latest gaffe emanating from the Obama Regime. The Obama Regime has pulled all videos and references concerning this event off the internet. How do you feel about Freedom of Speech and Govt. Transparency now?

I am British also and it can be confusing to some people as there are so many variants like England, British, UK, Great Britain, British Isles, and they all have a different meaning, but saying that,Obama should have known it was called the British Embassy!! No excuse there!!

He is just a product of American Education... who by the way puts little emphasis on Geography of ANY kind....

By the way, I am an American... but I also majored in Geography, so things like this stand out.

Can't golf, can't shoot hoops, can't count (57 states), can't get rid of those big ears, and the main thing......Can't get reelected. Thank God.

To be fair....I've found 99% of Americans are incapable of understanding the difference between England, Great Britain and the United Kingdom. Hell Sodahead staff make the mistake all the freaking time in their "news" blogs, the same with other media. Being a British citizen it rightfully annoys me....yet it's reached the point where I simply expect it from the yanks across the pond. So I, sadly, find this unsurprising.

Thanks for your insight. Obama knows the difference now because his administration has pulled all videos concerning this event off the web. If I were British I'd be mad as hell. As an American, I'm embarrassed as hell that America ever elected this nincompoop.

It irks me somewhat but...he appears to acknowledge his mistake because straight after saying "English Embassy" he started referring it as the "Embassy of the United Kingdom".

I had more a problem when he gave Her Majesty an Ipod with his speeches and Gordon Brown DVD's with a US format so unable to play on European DVD players. I mean, seriously?
