Obama wasted four years whining about how the difficult circumstances left to him by the Bush administration have undermined the golden promises he made in his 2008 campaign. But now he expects us to believe that he can fulfill those promises at last if we give him another four years with an economy, foreign policy and social divisions in far worse shape than when he was inaugurated. The one thing he'll find that has improved during his presidency is the voters' grasp of reality on election day.
