Does loving Iranians mean we shouldn't protect ourselves from their leader?

There is a growing movement in Israel to protest the fact that the Israeli government may be going to war with Iran soon. The war would be in an effort to protect Israel from allowing Iranian leadership to gain control of a nuclear weapon, which they have blatantly said they would use against both Israel and the United States. The protest campaign is centered around the idea that Israelis love Iranians. However, does loving someone mean you shouldn't protect yourself from life-threatening danger?

Iran is some years from having a nuclear weapon. Are we then to bomb anyone who shows the slightest desire to develop nuclear weapons?

Not undecided...just another answer. Fighting their leader would be a great thing to do, if our economy wasn't so screwed up. We need to focus on that right now.

If I had to kill every Iranian on the planet to save one Israeli with cancer, expected to live only another week, I would do it. Fact is a people are responsible for the actions of their leadership. So there really are not any Innocent Iranians as much as I love them. As an American I am responsible for the anti-Israeli loser we have in office. The US should have put a bayonet up Ahmadinejad's tail pipe years ago. Instead he risks Israel for his reelection.

It is really difficult to answer the question. You love someone, but protecting yourself from danger will hurt the people you love. If Israeli government is not going to war with Iran , the people in Israel will be in danger. If Israel is destroyed, there is no one to love Iranians. Wars inevitablely bring some disasters to people, but the advantages overweight the drawbacks. we should learn to grasp the main points.

Personally, in response to the following question, “Does loving Iranians mean we shouldn't protect ourselves from their leader?” I would reply that I have not seen any evidence that the continental United States of America is in any danger from either Iran or Ahmadinejad. In short, the problems facing either Israel or Iran are not the problems of the United States of America.

I hate how leading the polls are presented on Sodahead.

Not everyone who says no thinks that Israeli lives are at stake or that Israel must protect its citizens.

Not everyone who says yes thinks that innocent Iranians will be hurt in the process.

Naiveté of a few should not be used to excuse the endangerment of a nation's survival. Iran has made it clear in the past their intentions, only a fool would ignore it.

If left with no choice, I would allow the Israelis to destroy the nuclear facilities in Iran, because they have repeatedly and loudly said that their main goal is to wipe Israel off the face of the map, and they wouldn't mind if America were gone as well.

It is unfortunate because the people of Iran do not hate the US or Israel.

The government of Iran controled by a radical Islamic faith hates Americans and Israelies. The current ' president' of Iran is more unpopular in his own country than any American president has ever been. Currently only people of his own faith have the right to vote and they only repesent 1/3rd of the country.

Israel may have no choice but to bomb Iran due to thier delusional President who believes things such as "the holocost never happened it is a lie"; as he stated in an interview on American television a few years back.

PS: In the last so called election he only got 54% of that 1/3rd that share his religion. He is that unpopular.

Not quite. The world hates America and israel for the crimes they commit in the nations they occupy and invade. It really has nothing to do with radical religions and the like.

I was speaking specifically of the one in control of Iran.
Using the example of how he does not believe the holocost ever happened specifically even to show he is more radical and delusional than most of the radicals. He is considered radical even to the radicals.

When has the Israeli government EVER given an inch to anyone - especially the Palestinians! Many people in Israel are TRYING to protest about this disgusting state of affairs that has been going on for so long - but their right to protest is being suppressed. Israel thinks it can do what it wants because it has the backing of the US Government but more than that it is an integral part of the New World Order as is the United Kingdom and United States and these people have no respect for life, creation or anything good (they are ultimately satanists who hate god (encompassing everyones positive idea of what god is) and all that his love created), hence why they commit murder and atrocities on such a grand scale and are more than happy to provoke world war 3 which could lead to our distruction. In terms of aggressive moves so far, if I ignore the mind control and brainwashing thats going on and look at the behaviour and actions of politicians etc. I see the aggression coming from the US, UK and Israel itself.

I have considered--even before you posted what you posted--and you are right in many of your thoughts. However, it is very ironic that Israel has returned after thousands of years. The best way to protect ourselves is to stop provoking them. The western countries have been interfering with Iran since the 50's

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

In 1953, Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadeq was overthrown by a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)-organized coup, in what has been called "a crucial turning point both in Iran's modern history and in U.S. Iran relations." Many Iranians argue that "the 1953 coup and the extensive U.S. support for the shah in subsequent years were largely responsible for the shah's arbitrary rule," which led to the "deeply anti-American character" of the 1979 revolution.[13]

War is hell. I mean that sincerely. It should be an absolute last resort. However there is no reason to dought Iran's leader, Ach (for short), when he threatens the anihiltaion of (what he calls ) the big and little satan (U.S. and Isreal). For those who say Iran is not a threat, study history. The same thing was said about Germany more than once. For those who say strike first, think of the serious consequenses. Remember-absolute last resort.

I'm not convinced Iran is a threat to the US. We should probably protect ourselves from our own leaders that pass unconstitutional laws like NDAA 2012, violate the Geneva Convintion authorizing torture, and ignore the Wars Power Act by attacking and invading nations without the consent of congress. In addition, it is more likely than not, Obama is a fraud and is not a natural born citizen if he's an American citizen at all.

I clicked on undecided but I am not undecided at all. Just wanted to leave my opinion. THIS IS ALL BRAINWASHING BULL !! 1. THERE IS NO PROOF IRAN HAS NUCLEAR WEAPONS (Just because the puppet media who is controlled by the global elite spin you the story that Iran is up to no good, doesn't mean like some mindless sheep you have to believe it. Same old same old. 911 was an inside job and an excuse to go into the middle east again. 2. EVEN IF IRAN DID HAVE NUKES WE HAVE THEM ALSO, SO WHO ARE WE TO SAY THEY CANT ! 3. IF I WAS IRAN WITH HOSTILE COUNTRIES AROUND ME AND US AND UK IMPERIALISTS PROVOKING WORLD WAR 3 I WOULD WANT TO PROTECT MYSELF FROM THEM. 4. GET REAL - THE UK AND US ARE TOYING WITH THERMO-NUCLEAR WAR YES THATS RIGHT -THERMONUCLEAR WAR !!!! THATS THE END OF US 100% IF THAT HAPPENS SO IF I WERE YOU I WOULD WAKE UP PRETTY DAMN QUICK AND REALISE IT IS THE US AND UK IMPERIALISTS WHO ARE PUSHING THIS BY IMPOSING SANCTIONS AND BULLYING IRAN AND FEEDING THE PROPOGANDER MACHINE ON TV AND NEWSPAPERS. THESE NWO SCUM ALWAYS DEMONISE PEOPLE SO THEY HAVE AN EXCUSE TO GO INTO OTHER PEOPLES COUNTRIES, KILL THEIR CITIZENS AND RAPE THEIR COUNTRY OF THEIR PRECIOUS ASSETS.

What people need to realize is that both the Israeli government and Iranian governments do not represent the people of both of those countries. If there was a war, it would be because of the governments and radical government supporters (Zionists and Jihadists). But innocent people will be killed and I honestly don't think there is anything we can do except voice our opinions. The governments will do what they want to do, and that is that.

I'm honestly scared for the innocent people that will be killed if this war happens - don't forget that Americans will probably be targeted if the Israeli government decides to bomb Iran. Both governments won't care if innocents get killed - look at the people that were killed in Gaza and the people killed by Hamas and Fatah.

Any ideas on what we can do? I'm honestly at a loss. sigh...

The most powerful and influential Cleric of Islam made the following statement recently in a Speech:

"In his remarks, Khamenei advised the youths to remain vigilant, stating that the Islamic awakening in the region has delivered several blows to the enemies of Islam and that all Muslims, despite their own historical and social differences, remain united in opposing the “evil hegemony of the Zionists and the Americans.”

Khamenei then claimed the current century as the century of Islam and promised that human history is on the verge of a great event and that soon the world will realize the power of Allah.

Many clerics in Iran have stated that Khamenei is the deputy of the last Islamic messiah on earth and that obedience to him is necessary for the final glorification of Islam."
