/it depends on how the child was raised, how the parents reacted and many other factors

I was exposed to pornography at an early age, it doesn't bother me, I won't go buy pornographic material it doesn't interest me, I have access to it at any time, it is regularly available in my trade but I have no interest in it

Ummmmm? How old were you when you first knew you had different body parts from your sibling or cousin? Now that's a question. When did you know you were you?

I'm simply saying Assasin, at what age do children notice there is a difference between the sexes? Sexuality is natural in all animals. But when do we as humans sexualize the human body? Understand what my point is now? Just a little nibit to think about.

In many cases it does, so yes. HOWEVER, depending upon how it is handled by the parents when it is eventually discovered, that negative influence can be minimized and even negated. More often than not any negative influence would be caused by a parent's overreaction to the exposure. Many kids are naturally curious about such things and it should be explained in such a way as to satisfy the curiosity and discourage further delving until a much later time.

There are exceptions to that though. If a person has an addictive personality and they are viewing pornography early, and aren't explained about why they should not be seeing it it's very possible they could be affected negatively by those early experiences. Porn DEFINITELY gives people a false sense of how sex is supposed to look and sound.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you. Study after study has showed that it impacts their view on relationships, sex, and women for many years.

I can see why. Honestly, I was just answering based on what I thought because I had not seen porn til I was well into my young adult years. I was thinking more of 2am cinemax soft core porn more than anything. I forget that kids have more access than ever to the internet and all that it has to offer

Yes, of course. Children aren't just "little" adults. Care must be taken in their exposure to anything. Their age and developmental stage must be considered. Duh!

No one is saying there should be no pornography. We are saying young children shouldn't be viewing it

Exposure to pornography is routine among children and young people, with a range of notable and often troubling effects. Particularly among younger children, exposure to pornography may be disturbing or upsetting. Exposure to pornography helps to sustain young people's adherence to sexist and unhealthy notions of sex and relationships. And, especially among boys and young men who are frequent consumers of pornography, including of more violent materials, consumption intensifies attitudes supportive of sexual coercion and increases their likelihood of perpetrating assault. While children and young people are sexual beings and deserve age-appropriate materials on sex and sexuality, pornography is a poor, and indeed dangerous, sex educator.

Sorry, but I can't agree with you on that. Perhaps religion is harmful, perhaps not. The two are completely unrelated, and the facts are very clear about exposure to porn.

It's not the exposure that'll affect them as such, it's the way the adults handle it.

I only voted "Yes" because it was my intuitive thought on the matter. I didn't see any link here which provided any data to support the premise, so this is a truly opinion driven poll.

    Okay! I'll relax! LOL

If "kids. . .are perfectly capable of accessing [porn] by themselves" then the adults in their lives are very poor guardians!

Perhaps you might be surprised at the number of adults who are eager to expose minors to inappropriate sexual material. Even in my rather insular world I have know parents to do that.

Here I am expressing views about porn when I have never understood the lure it it! Why does one need to view a stranger's nakedness or sexual activity? Is it because those that view it cannot become aroused without it? There has to be a reason.

In my younger days (LOL), I had no need of arousal by any outside source. Sex with my husband was totally exciting and even spiritual. We needed nothing but each other. I think it was because we so loved and respected each other.

I think it's possible. Since, according to my experience, pornography is viewed mostly by males, it will give males a false expectation of women. Some people might think that sex is nothing more than a way to pass time or whatever, and that it is of no apparent consequence.

I'm saying "no" because that's what I want it to be.

But I truly do not know if it does affect kids well into adulthood.
