Governor Christie is a straight-talking, no-BS kind of guy who seems like a refreshing alternative to double-talking politicians. Many thought he should have been the Republican nominee, but the fact that he was overweight was a non-starter for his presidential bid. He is trying to lose the pounds, but admits that it is hard to do.

ABCNEWS.GO.COM reports:
(ABC News) TRENTON, N.J. — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie opened up about his weight problem in an interview with ABC News and stressed he is “trying” to lose weight, a battle he’s waged for 30 years, but said he’s never considered gastric bypass surgery because it’s “too risky.” “I mean, see, listen, I think there’s a fundamental misunderstanding among people regarding weight and regarding all those things that go into, to people being overweight,” Christie said in an interview that will air Tuesday on “Nightline.” “I think folks say — yeah, well he must just not be disciplined, you…

If his lardass can't take good care of himself, what makes you think he can take good care of the state of NJ?

Well, ask the people of NJ. I know many of them who are democrats and love him. And don't call him lard ass. Are you perfect?
  • chgo Lucy 2012/07/05 05:09:08

he is over 400 lbs. thus, he's a lard ass.

    Are you perfect?

    Standing next to him, yes.

What has a person's weight got to do with his/her abilities to govern?

Not when I made my original comment. But I'll consider the source and go on my way. Some people just cannot see the forest for the trees. Gov. Christie’s detractors are impervious to their own failings and only see what they want to see in the Governor.

It certainly could; however, his no nonsense, shoot from the hip style is popular with many voters who are tired of politicians who will tell them what they want to hear. He would do himself, his family, and his political career a great service if he could improve his diet and health and thereby lose weight.

    And why "should" it?
From personal experience, every time I went on a calorie-cutting diet, I ended up gaining the weight back and then some. This fallacy in thinking is the product of the multi BILLION dollar diet industry. I will never diet again. If dieting worked, the diet industry would go out of business.
A couple of blogs that really educate about this point are fiercefatties.com and danceswithfat.wordpress.com
These people will drop some science on anyone who still believes that dieting works.

Obesity is not a definitive diagnosis of inability to control impulsive and harmful habits, but it is a clue. Having a mouth that can't be controlled is a second and more definitive clue.
Being on the wrong side of almost every issue of importance to America is almost completely definitive. Add them all together and you just have to come to the obvious and inescapable conclusion that this fat man is not suitable for any office, certainly not one of any greater importance than to represent New Jersey's established mafia.

He also wouldn't be suited if he were thin. His weight has nothing to do with it.
Do you say to yourself "this skinny person must be shooting smack in order to keep themselves so skinny" every time you see someone who is quite slender?
Not all fat people are cramming themselves full of buckets of Kentucky Fried at every opportunity.

Exactly. So, one has to wonder why Governor Christie is putting it away. Didn't he win
the hot dog eating contest today? I just saw a news banner that the winner ate 62 hot dogs. That would be a lot, even for a guy the size of the Gov.
  • Lucy Ambassa... 2012/07/05 04:45:05

You know something, you are quite a narrow-minded person. My democrat friends in NJ like Christie alot, because he does what he says and has saved that state a great deal of money. He is not in the mafia and I would vote for him for President in a minute. He is far more qualified than Mr. Obama was when he won election.

Christie is not today a candidate for the office of POTUS and will never be. How would you know if he were in the employ of the organized crime "Dons" that have controlled politics in New Jersey since the era of Prohibition? He won't live long enough to be the
candidate at a later time. Coronary, diabetes, stroke, one will get him before 2016.

He's a fat slob and a bore and a loudmouth. I can just see this idiot at a world conference offending all world leaders and dribbling down his bib like a slobbering baby over lunch. I know that's what your offensive Cons would love to see, but I don't think the average American want this emotionally unstable man's chubby paws on the button.
  • RoseyRhod joseph ... 2012/07/04 23:52:45

From everything I've heard about him, he's a complete ass. But your prejudice against larger people is pretty offensive. I'm a big person, and when I eat I do not "dribble down my bib like a slobbering baby." If he is emotionally unstable, it's not because he's heavy.

Sorry if you're personally offended. But you don't want to be President. If the man cannot control either his appetite or his temper, he should never be taken seriously as the leader of the free world. My references to him slobbering are based on video I've seen of the man's eating style, which is to gluttonously woolf down food as indelicately and as quickly as possible. I never said ALL heavy people behave in his Bacchanalian behavior, it was a personal remark about he ,and he alone.

I think RoseyRhod and Joseph are both horrible. You are making fun of a person with a weight problem. If you could hear yourselves as others do, you would be ashamed. Gov. Christie is a smart, effective leader. Are you saying that fat people should be discrimanated from being promoted? It sounds like it.
