Does America understand we are in serious debt as a country and MUST cut entitlements and BIG GOVERNMENT spending to survive?

It is amazing that we have two examples in recent history.Bill Clinton raised taxes on the wealthy only modestly and the budget became balanced and we had a surplus. Bush cut taxes for his rich buddies and left with a doubled defecit. Truth is,we can either cut taxes for millionaires and billionaires or we can take care of the elderly and the less fortunate.We cannot do both.
I never thought I would see an election where two millionaires were running on the same ticket with the center piece of their campagn being that if elected they will give themselves a tax break.If Paul Ryans tax proposals were in place in 2010 Mitt Romney would have paid less that 1{one} per cent in taxes.

Obama manipulates people. His whole campaign. & presidency has been a huge "closing argument", (he's an attorney mind you), creating a picture that is manufactured with overly simplistic thinking, COUNTING on the ignorance of people to not understand how Lyndon Johnson managed to get Congress to work together to pass Civil Rights, yet he can't get ONE vote from a democrat on HIS budget! Why didn't he "tax the rich" as a solution in year 1 or 2 when he had COMPLETE control of Congress? B/C it would not have done sqaut & he'd have NOTHING else and would have to be accountable for that failure!

First of all I do not receive S.S. and never will. I'm 17 quarters short of the required 40, as for Medicare I pay over $2,700 a year. You as a liberal should like it if I received something I did not pay for.

If you didn't contribute enough in payroll taxes to qualify for social security, then you didn't contribute much to the Medicare program you now enjoy. $2,700/year is ONLY $225 per month! That is one helluva deal for a 67-year-old! Try pricing that coverage on the private market, it would be several times that, if you can get it at all.

The federal government is currently paying 48% of your health care expenses. You're getting a lot more in benefits from Medicare than you ever paid into. That is the definition of welfare.

Nope, can't be possible. If you didn't work long enough to qualify for SS, then you didn't work long enough to pay for what you're taking out of the Medicare system. Conservatives usually think "welfare recipient" only applies to other people, not themselves.

P.S. Don't worry, the Ryan plan for Medicare intends to make honest people out of those like you. You'll be able keep your federally subsidized Medicare welfare program, but those coming after you will only get a voucher to offset the private market rate.

And if Obamacare is repealed, you'll be able to pay for the prescription donut hole out of your own pocket again. So much for you freaking freeloaders!! LOL!

Look stupid the reason I don't qualify for S.S. is that I only worked in the privet sector for 5 years. I worked for the government for 31 years and then had to retire because of medical reasons.

You do know one doesn't have to voluntarily join a union to belong to one, in most cases union membership isn't voluntary. You want the job, you're a member of the union, whether you like it or not.

And you should know the air traffic controllers got fired by Reagan because it was specifically stated in their contract that they were not allowed to strike, and they did anyway. They violated their contract, that's why they were fired. If not for that, Reagan wouldn't have been able to touch them.

All federal workers know that they cannot go on strike without losing there job, what the ATC really wanted was after working at a busy airport and being promoted to a high GS level they wanted to move to a real small airport with very little traffic that only required a lower level GS worker. That was one reason they went out on strike.
I myself was a tech rep for the Navy, on call 24/7 and I did receive those phone calls at 2 or 3 in the morning and on an airplane at 8: oo AM

Okay, so you were a government employee for over 30 years working for the government-created military. So you had 30 years of employment PLUS your undoubtedly generous taxpayer-funded pension as a result of THE GOVERNMENT, not the private sector. Correct?

My taxpayer money is being used to fund YOUR PENSION, that doesn't seem to bother you one bit. Private sector employees don't get pensions any longer.
