Hey guys, I have this awesome idea! You can get tan for REALLY cheap! It's called THE SUN. Or you can be like me and take amusement in your pasty flesh, and be quite happy when you make it to 40 without skin cancer.

I made me sick in my soul and in my heart how a few years ago a beautiful youg girl accidentally microwaved her insides out when she repeated used those things several times in one day to get a tan for the prom.

It's none of their business as long as a parent signs for them. What's next, patrolling the skies above house with swimming pools and assuring that there are no kids absorbing harmful UV? Is it better to have them go out in the sun ghost white and fry if they are going to Hawaii or Mexico for vacation as opposed to slowly and gradually building a decent base tan? Just more intrusion from good old FedZilla, the Monster that eats Freedom. I have an idea, how about banning all the limos in Washington D.C. and making the fat bast....ds walk to work? Especially Shirley Jackson Lee.

Hey, if you have to be 18 or older to buy cancer on a stick you should be 18 or older to lay on a bed that can give you cancer.

Parents need to step up and be parents. Kids know the risk, parents know the risk, they can decide if they want to take it or not.

Personally I believe there are certain things like tanning beds that should be the decision of an adult to make r/t the risk involved and with risk there comes personal responsibility and a person under legal age of consent isn't adult enough to make those decisions. There are lots of things that should only be allowed at the age of 21. Statistics show that most teenagers are killed by driving and most of us know that these young people are reckless and that most don't have the maturity to be in control of an automobile; however I think the parents should be held responsible for these youngsters until they are of age.

I think it should be banned for everyone because it not only causes cancer to teens but also to adults. It would also help people not be as fake...

Adults can make their own decisions about their lives and how they live it. If people keep trying to dictate what other people should do and how they should think and how they should eat and how they interact in society then what is the point? This type of indoctrination is grouping people into herds of sheep, where there is a leader and the rest just follow and take commands. This is no more than people on the level of animals. Is this what is to come? Domination and Dictation of a society that once was great.

I agree, but when it comes to CANCER, I think people should try their best to avoid it, and if that involves a law being proposed then so be it. Teens can also make their own decisions too, but of course they can be stubborn, but aren't some adults too...

No. Parents need to step up to the plate and be parents. How many times do we hear people complain about Government trying to run out lives? I don't need the Government raising my kids. That's *my* job.

They shouldn't be banned for teenagers any more then they should be banned for adults. BOTH teenagers and adults should be warned that exessive use can cause skin cancer, however. Doctors and politicians should not meddle with private lives, it's none of their gaul-dam-business.

I think this is a slippery slope.

Our country has shown an increasing willingness to restrict the behavior of the other guy. Sooner or later, they're going to get around to banning one of YOUR activities. How are you going to feel then?

It's one thing to try to protect the public from the actions of an individual, but I cannot agree with the nanny state we are slowly trying to build.

Why is it suddenly healthy for someone 18 to use a tanning bed? I don't see how it is fair to only ban it for children.
  • Delta ThePurp... 2011/04/12 04:17:18
    Delta
Because 18 is supposed to be the age of an adult but we know that isn't true for everyone.
