Liberty Counsel Action

Harry Reid manipulated the Senate schedule to fast-track the Blunt Amendment onto the Senate floor while Democratic Senators demonized the bill with outlandish allegations and far-fetched scenarios. Today, (3-1-12) the Senate voted 51-48 to table this critical bill that would have restored ALL Americans’ First-Amendment rights to the place our forefathers intended in the Constitution.

In the past 48 hours, Liberty Counsel Action team members stormed Capitol Hill with a petition bearing the names of almost 70,000 citizens and flooded Senate offices with tens of thousands of faxes. But this is only the beginning of our fight for our precious freedom of conscience! See my very important update below – Mat.

There is an outcry across our nation today. Americans’ religious liberties have once again been trampled upon by President Obama and his sycophants in Harry Reid’s Senate.

Today’s vote in the Senate exposed those legislators who are squarely in Obama’s socialist camp and plan to advocate ObamaCare’s unconstitutional mandates to the end.

Senator Roy Blunt, the author of the Blunt Amendment, said this following the vote…

“Instead of working to pass a bipartisan measure that has been part of our law…this debate has been burdened by outlandish and divisive efforts to misinform and frighten Americans.

Unfortunately, this is only a glimpse of what Americans can expect as a result of President Obama’s government health care takeover – which is why we need to repeal and replace this bill with common-sense bipartisan solutions.

This fight is not over. I will continue to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and in both chambers of Congress to protect the rights that make our nation great.”

++As Senator Blunt says, this fight is NOT over!

We have taken names and these Senators will be held accountable for their vote! Liberty Counsel Action’s forthcoming Congressional Scorecard will add the outcome of this vote to our findings and those legislators who are up for reelection will feel the peoples’ displeasure at the voting booth.

But first, with today’s defeat in the Senate, Congressman Jeff Fortenberry’s “Respect for Rights of Conscience Act,” takes center stage. It is similar to the Blunt Amendment and is making its way through the House of Representatives. It now has 220 co-sponsors.

Representative Fortenberry wrote that his Act, “…would repeal the controversial [ObamaCare] mandate, amending the 2010 health care law to preserve conscience rights for religious institutions, health care providers, and small businesses who pay for health care coverage.”

Here’s my pledge to you: Liberty Counsel Action will diligently work to get Representative Fortenberry’s bill to a floor vote – and passed!

That’s why I am announcing a second delivery of our petition, “Stop Barack Obama's subversion of our religious civil liberties and conscience rights!” to members of the House of Representatives.

I truly believe that the ObamaCare battleground we are fighting on now may be the toughest political fight we face in our lifetime.

I need to know that you are with me in this battle. We can deliver 100,000 signatures to the House – but I must have your name on this petition to get this vital legislation passed – and to stop Barack Obama’s tyrannical assault on our religious liberties.

Here are two ways you can help:

First, please consider telling your friends and family about our nationwide initiative by using one of the social media share tools below.

Second, call your representative and encourage the Congressman to pass Rep. Fortenberry's "Respect for Rights of Conscience Act."

++Defeating ObamaCare means defeating the mandates!

Liberty Counsel Action’s sister organization, Liberty Counsel, is confronting this latest ObamaCare mandate by seeking an outright declaration that the President’s healthcare “reform” law is unconstitutional at the U.S. Supreme Court. Liberty Counsel has filed two vital briefs to the Court and the hearings will begin in just a few weeks.

But Liberty Counsel Action can stop the mandates in the legislature and we MUST do everything possible to end this tyrannical government take-over of the American medical services industry!

The stakes are dramatically higher because now, even our God-given freedom of conscience is at stake!

Please, sign our petition to the House of Representatives:

http://www.lcaction.cc/660/petition.asp

I am honored to say that our wonderful Liberty Counsel Action team bombarded Capitol Hill in the past 48 hours. We went into today's Senate vote having delivered over 4.5 million citizen action messages on this single crucial issue.

With almost 70,000 signatures on our petition opposing Obama’s unconstitutional made – and tens of thousands of faxes barraging Senators’ offices – the voices of the people were certainly heard!

And although Harry Reid once again orchestrated a temporary setback in his protection of the President’s trophy legislation, everyone in Washington D.C. knows the fight is on!

God bless you for standing on the side of true liberty!

Mathew Staver, Chairman
Liberty Counsel Action

P.S. The Senate has “tabled” the battle over Barack Obama’s unconstitutional mandate, which threatens every Americans’ First Amendment rights.

The next battleground is in the House of Representatives. Please sign our petition, which will be hand delivered to key members of the House in a matter of days!

Then, please help us reach more people by posting the petition link on your social network site or forwarding this message to as many of your friends as possible. Again, thank you and God bless you!

I would really like to have Obamacare overturned because it takes money away from those on MediCare and I believe that doctors will eventually stop seeing patients that have medicare which would eventually end medicare. What would happen then to those on MediCare? Would they be put on MediCaid? Not enough details and like The Supreme Court Justices stated, the bill is too many pages for anyone expected to read.

Our system of government is based upon an assumption that the people placed in high office are honorable. This is an absolute requirement for the survival of our nation. The Founding Fathers understood that when dishonorable people begin to take high office, the system of government they set into motion would begin to fail. Unfortunately America’s judicial system is proving this principle.

Without needing to discuss judicial rulings, incidents demonstrate the harassment, bias, and lack of honor in the administrative operation of our courts. This bias effectively prevents those on one side of an issue to have basic access to the courts. In other words, the courts are now barring specific viewpoints from entering the front doors of the court. What does get through is impinged by means of the timing of orders and one-sided enforcement of procedural requirements.

The law has already expanded insurance coverage, and has applied some much-needed regulation of the insurers (like denying people for pre-existing conditions).

The main problem is that it is neither single-payer nor is there a public option -- but this can be added in the future without too much difficulty.

It is the single worst attack on the rights of the individual since the founding of the republic. Our rights are unalienable and do not come from the state. From its inception this was a calculated and criminal attack on our individual liberty as Americans. Obama, he came to divide! I was born a free man 56 years ago and in just 3 short years Obama and his Democrats has done more to reduce my individual liberty than all the dictators of the 20th century combined.

There is nothing in the Constitution that says the government should be providing healthcare, it's not their place. All Obamacare is going to do, is bring down the level of healthcare and we'll be paying out the nose for substandard care.

wht i find sad is that people are not using facts but the normal hate and ignorance of the issues.

first reid as the senate leader can place any bill on the floor for a vote as long as it is a legal bill or amendment. there is nothing in the bill that takes away anyone's religious freedoms or beleifs.

the claim that obamacare is unconstitutional proves perople have never read the constitution.

the libs won cotrol of the senate thanks to the voters of america. a bipartisan buill is only required when you do not have the votes in your party to pass a partisan bill.

let me make this very clear for all you libs--I DO NOT SUPPORT OBAMACARE BUT KNOW THAT THE CONSTITUTION APPROVES IT, AND THE CONGRESS FOLLOWED PROPER PROCEDURE TO PASS IT.

You're completely misunderstanding. I think Omamacare is an absolutely wonderful thing and I could only WISH for his name to be associated with universal healthcare. However he can not take credit for it unfortunately. He did not come up with the concept. Also you should note that isn't what HE called it. "obamacare" was a word which right wingers used to demonize his proposal of this healthcare system in our country.. However it blew up in their faces when liberals embraced the term as a positive thing. "us libs" like the term, don't you understand?

The Clintons came up with the plan for American healthcare and if failed, I believe an agreement with Clinton and Obama was made to get this plan in the works no matter what it took.
Do you remember when all these new CVS, Wallgreen drugs stores were going up on every corner? then the price of drugs skyrocketed out of site when they opened up the new stores.
Now tell me there wasn't a underhanded plan. Wonder how much money the Clintons got out of it.

Talking to the people of other counties. They know better than any U.S. citizen. They also know what the general consensus is on it in their home countries, something that simple statistics can't express. Also, it's not hard to find information on it working in other countries. It seems to be working quite well in Germany and Britain. But again, my main point was not to get into some raging argument about healthcare. My original point was that it's kind of silly for people, Libs OR right wingers (I know we have much different views on what "obamacare" truly means) to call it Obamacare because he simply can't take all the credit. That's all.

Our country is being put under a dictator, and that book is helping it happen. I have already signed so many petitions, etc that my fingers are worn to the bone. People need to wake up and see what's really happening here. We are losing our country for pete's sakes. Others are sitting around saying...oh, Obamacare is so great, etc, but not seeing whats behind all of this...what's coming. People wake up...PLEASE!!!! Do some research.
