Is this the U.S. Government or government in general? I trust government unless they give me a reason not to. And boy "not knowing" is a big reason not to trust them. Did you know that there are about a dozen levels of security clearance levels ABOVE the President of the United States of America? Yes, there are shadowy reaches to our government that not even the President is trusted with. What are they doing? Who knows, the money is funneled in through diversions in discretionary spending measures.
Look, the sheer responsibilities we have loaded on Government makes it not that hard to believe that it will be inefficient (though we need to work to make it as efficient as possible), but it's the fact that our Government feels the need to deceive us that scares me. Now, I can appreciate Military reasons to keep information classified from civilians, but what gets me is that our "leaders" aren't even in charge, meaning that we have people that we neither elected nor know making decisions beyond the powers of the President and the Congress.
