First of all jetpacks have been around since the late 50's. I think the problem they have with them is they use their fuel too fast and heat up very quickly making their flight time around 30 seconds.
Robots and laser-guns are slowly coming along. I'm sure there is lots of neat toys the governments have that will only come out during war.
Our technological level is simple. Were MORONS. We've barely even started maybe in a million years we might be able to brag but even then there will be new things to learn and create.

There are many compact high energy generation, storage capacity and other technologies on the horizon that will never be trusted to the general population. I am not saying for sure that any of it exist today but, if they do, the simple fact is nothing that could be used to make men more independent and self sufficient and or threaten the collective hive and or their leaders power or health will ever see the light of day and you will have to be an especially well favored and "made" mobster to have access to it.

We have the Jet Pack or something like it but it has never been put into use. I am going to bet that it is because of some FAA thing. We have Robots getting better all the time. And Ray Guns? There are a few types in the works but much of that is held close to the vest by our government. In time all that is practical will be out.
