I'm none religious, yet when i have a change to help somebody i do and don't ask for anything back except a smile and help somebody out when they have a change. does that make me a bad person then. i don't care for both siding because all they do is bash each other instead of working together and making this country better then what it can be.

Nothing good comes from crossing religion with politics. Most Americans (Dem., Ind., or Rep.) seem to believe in some higher spiritual power - the difference is their willingness to cross their faith with their politics. Countries where faith and politics comingle have a poor record on delivering personal freedoms (and I include in 'those of faith' those politicians who have 'faith' in Atheism because a dogmatic Atheist can be as bad as any Charismatic Christian). Those that conduct their faith practices and political practices in completely different worlds provide the most freedom.

I am completely with you. I must confess that after seeing some of the silly-billy comments of this thread, I really wasn't interested in reasoning with some of these Sodahead users, particularly those who claimed society "should crush Godless liberals" and the rest. But I'm glad you have intelligently explained it through very accurately. It certainly remains a fact that those countries with large-scale fusion of politics and religion, do overwhelmingly have low levels of personal liberty and freedom.
I also attest to your point of it doesn't matter which Religious or non-Religious sect is invoking this upon anyone else - true, even Atheists pursuing the same type of bullying to rid religion, and clamp down on religious expression and the freedom to worship is dangerous to individual liberty. I back that up as an Agnostic, (I don't know how we would deliver dogmatic agnostic based laws and the expense of others freedoms, it would be interesting to understand that!) that we should respect each others beliefs and keep faith or non-faith largely a personal things as far as governance is concerned.

And here I thought that there were only trolls roaming Sodahead these days. As an atheist I get a little embarrassed by the radical atheist point of view of faith being 'evil'. The religion thing is always best left to yourself and maybe your close family.
