Do you think the USA is a man hating society?

Lately I've been browsing You Tube and there seems to be a whole bunch of Men's Rights groups with videos. Many seem to just be some whiny ass Mama's boys, but some show some research on the unfairness of our judicial system when it comes to rape and also child custody in divorce cases and they even have 2 women on their side.. I've included some links to these videos in case anyone wants to see exactly what I've been looking at.

While men get some disadvantages, like you mentioned, this is still a predominantly male dominant, patriarchal society. Women still make about .80$ to the 1$ that men make, women are still seen as inferior in many senses. Even the feminist movement has been poisoned to look like it's something negative.

[To expand,] The point of Feminism was for equality. Period. Not to conquer men, not to become dominant or burn bras (which, you can look up, was isolated to one campus and entertained by only a group or two of women). Problem is, radicals (whether that's liberal or conservative) give things/groups negative connotations and destroy the meaning of something that's supposed to be beneficial for society.

Women's roles are optional, while men's roles are mandated. Women can enlist in the armed forces, but men are subject to the draft. Men who want to be in the lives of their children are usually denied custody and visitation is weakly enforced, but child support is heavily enforced. Women can wear pants or blue or grey, but men better not wear pink or anything that even resembles a dress. Even things like being gay or bisexual are much less persecuted for women. Tomboys were always much better tolerated than sissies. The law is on the side of females who don't want traditional roles, but attacks men who want the same thing. You want to know if society hates men, try being a male who is even a little bit of a gender nonconformist. They'll jump on him like ten gorillas.

I'm 55 and it has been a man hating society since I was a kid. I grew up with all kinds of negative messages about how terrible men were. I felt horrible about myself for many years. I never approached a girl or woman I was interested in. I married strong willed women who made the first move on me. The first marriage lasted 5 years. While the second is now almost 27 years, I have not been happy for most of it. I never felt respected or honored in either.

Why not get a divorce? I'm married 47 years and there have been trying times, but we made it almost to the end of the line

Why would I initiate a divorce? The problem lies within me. I took on all those negative messages when I was a pre-teen and I have not been able to change this about me. I believe I would make the same sort of mistake in the future. If she ever threatens divorce again (she has threatened divorce quite a few times over the years), I will call her bluff. But I think I would likely stay single for a long time.

I only asked about divorce because you said your marriage has been very difficult. If you can work things out, that is the best outcome. But many times divorce is the only thing that works for many folks.

LOL you are surrounded mk...lol...My Uncle has 6 girls and he said even the dog and cat were female. LOL HE was a great Father and Husband tho.

Of course and am very happy. But I enjoy reading and watching videos on You Tube and interacting with all sorts of people here on SH. Any time I find an interesting topic, I try to do a poll about here and get opinions from my fellow Sodaheads.
