Yes, it’s the only way to curb gun violence.

God help us. The gun-toting public is still going over and over the same tired reasons for owning a tool of death and who are never open-minded to any other point of view. Really we have no new points of view. Their words have been spoon fed to them and they rehash their rights using the same tired excuses. Personal opinions aside it would be nice if there was some intellilgence involved. The script is still the same. I just get so sick of it. I think recoil has done something to their brains.

Ask an Australian if stricter gun laws have made them safer. Or you can look at stats from D.C.
History has proven that an armed society is a polite society.

You'd think we would be safer with all the prisons we have, and the huge number within those walls, but I am not anymore safer from all the violence around me.

How come no one ever shows the statistics on the number of lives saved because the intended victim was armed? There is more gun crime on a weekly basis in American cities today than ever in the "wild west".

with gun control, you'll only take guns away from law abiding people and only those who are willing turn turn their guns over, which won't be many. Any way, if you take guns away from those who turn them in, then only criminals will have guns. I think I'll keep mine and all of my ammunition. :)

yeah, leave it to liberal bastions media outlets like ABC to actually think that guns could be outlawed. Go ahead, make it illegal to own guns, then only the outlaws will have guns. Then what, outlaw screwdrivers because they could kill someone. These things are only tools in the hands of anyone crazy enough to misuse them. Show me a gun that pulls it's own trigger num-nuts...

I believe in the freedom to own a gun - it's like every right we have, there will always be some who abuse these freedoms. I am dismayed sometimes on Sodahead when people use nasty, mean language to say what want to say. This is so unAmerican. The use of these nasty comments are so unlike what would be said by the American war dead - the men and women who died to preserve the very freedom of expression we have - it's shameful and dishonorable.

I live in the center of what has "become" a terrible area, full of criminal illegals. I wish I had a gun to protect myself, but would probably be afraid to use it because of the "victim has all the rights" issue. I have to rely on a couple dogs. I say ALL Americans at this horrible point America has reached should be required to have a gun, and required to take gun safety and training classes. Then we will see if crime goes down.

The question and the answers are so disconnected it is obvious that a certain result is desired. This is asburd! We have well over 20,000 gun laws on the books today, how about enforcing them rather than adding more?

"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun, therefore, be the constant companion of your walks."

No, Americans have a Constitutional right to carry guns.

Absolutely not!! Where to begin...... 1st off, the Police are not commissioned to protect the individual, but society as a whole - unless you are very lucky, the only thing they are for is to clean up the mess (you know, response times. BTW, not dissing the Police, theres just not enough of them to go around). Any doubts, look at the films of the LA riots circa 1993. Second, there are over 25,000 gun control laws on the books now, ENFORCE those first - punish the criminals ( average: 7 yr spent for murder, 12 yr for drugs). Third, new gun control laws do not effect the criminal element; all they do is place additional burdens on law abiding citizens in the form of more hoops to jump though to be able to protect themselves. Lastly, contrary to what the anti- gunners would have you believe, EVERY State that has enacted concealed carry laws has seen a decrease in violent crime not the predicted OK-Corral shoot-outs. Look at New York City, Washington DC, LA, or Chicago, cities with the strictest gun control laws in the land, and find the highest incidence of violent crime. Guess what, only the 'Elite' have access to Concealed Carry-what is wrong with that picture?

And even keep loving them after such actions. But she's gone now. A very good part of this world gone, forever!!! Hey, I got an idea, maybe anyone that reads this could try to feel her shoes? Agreed.. the injury / death numbers at Ft. Hood were so high because the military personnel were not allow to carry weapons... they had to call civilian cops to deal with the situation... the government never seems to learn... to prohibit weapons is to increase the body count when this sort of thing happens...

No, Americans have a Constitutional right to carry guns.

I believe that if all the states allowed citizens to carry a concealed weapon, crime would be reduced, not increased! Ninety percent of our population are law abidding citizens. The 10% that feeds off the law abidding people of our country are the ones we need to worry about! Especially the cronic repeat offenders! if everyone was allowed to carry a weapon, without fear of going to jail, these habitual criminals would look at a group of people and try to figure which one in the group is less likely to be carrying a weapon! With that thought in mind, I believe it would make the criminals of our country think twice before they actually committed a crime, solely because they would be unsure of WHO is carrying and who isn't!

No, Americans have a Constitutional right to carry guns.

Gun control laws do not control people who are in the business of breaking laws.

Gun control simply disarms their potential victims, making crime a safer occupation, and hence one that can be indulged in more widely by more people.

If you are going to look at the record, studies have already shown that allowing law-abiding citizens to own and carry concealed weapons tends to produce less violence, NOT more.

Have you ever heard of one of these supposedly "senseless" killers opening fire on a gathering of members of the National Rifle Association? They always seem to have better sense than to do that.

When people ask emotionally, "How can we stop these things?" the most straightforward answer is to ask:

How was it in fact stopped? It was stopped, like most shooting sprees, by the arrival on the scene of other people with guns.

It is the monopoly of guns by people with evil intentions that is dangerous.

Some of the most dangerous places in America are places where strict gun-control laws provide assurance to violent criminals that their victims will not be able to defend themselves.

Being fair and balanced a few words from the criminals of America

Now a word from a spokesman for the Muggers Union. “ A little old lady with a gun is more powerful then a 250 pound mugger! This illustrates yet another problem with letting law abiding citizens carry guns.”

The President of Violent Criminals Union of America says, “ Keep the gun ban! “ Studies show that letting law abiding people have guns reduces crime. That is, it hurts the muggers lively hood.”

.”“We the violent criminals will have to be afraid of people who don’t even own guns because we can no longer be sure they don’t have a gun. This kind of work place stress is to much for a mugger. “.”

I don't think guns should be banned, but stricter laws should be followed. One should have to go to classes and earn a gun permit to own guns.

To get a Concealed to carry license in Ohio the abbreviated version

You have to take several hours of CC classes
Including gun safety with time on the shooting range to prove you will not shoot yourself or anyone else by mistake. Also the laws of the state are covered.

With certificate in hand you must go to the Sheriff Office to be finger printed and a background check by the FBI will be perform

After a few weeks when you check out the Sheriff phones you to come in and have your picture taken, finger printed again and given your CC permit similar to a driver’s license.

It is not easy and not everyone gets one.

Then you can go to a gun store or show and purchase a gun.
