Do You Think the U.S. Should Stop Deporting Young Immigrants? (Obama Does)

Barack Obama made headlines Friday as he stated that his administration will no longer deport young illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. when they were children. His announcement, as expected, was met with part-joy and part-skepticism -- as well as a heckler who constantly kept interrupting the president as he spoke.

"These are young people who study in our schools, they play in our neighborhoods, they're friends with our kids, they pledge allegiance to our flag. They are Americans in their heart, in their minds, in every single way but one: on paper," the president said in his speech Friday morning. But he was also quick to add that this is not a permanent answer. "This is not amnesty. This is not immunity. This is not a path to citizenship... It's not a permanent fix," Obama said. Do you think the U.S. should stop deporting young immigrants?

I would agree that the republicans are not much better because they want to infringe on peoples liberties and want to dictate social policy by being anti-gay, against any drug that isnt "billion dollar pharmacist approved" even if they dont it doesnt harm people at all (pot) and adamantly for religion etc (which isnt a bad thing, but its a personal choice and should have nothing to do with "politics")---- they dont get it that in a "free country" people are meant to be allowed to DO WHAT THEY WANT as long as they PULL THEIR OWN WEIGHT and dont infringe on the LIBERTY of other citizens (what the founders intended) but at least they don't want to fine and punish people for working hard and trying to better their lives by f'n them with higher taxes and playing robin hood robbing from the "haves" and giving to the "have-nots".

Regardless, we need a powerful 3rd party to rise up because neither of the current parties are "by the people" or "for the people" anymore--- they are by and for the political bosses, world banks, and global corporations (the NWO so to speak) we need something to rise up and combat them both or this country is d-o-n-e... done.

why the F would I do that??

Its not the 1960's anymore BUB---- Kennedy was the last good democrat (and the last good/legitimate president imo). All those modern progressive democrats have is a socialist ideology that wants to reward the people who dont try or dont contribute to society except in a negative way---all to buy their votes---and they want to punish those who focus, try hard, and are successful and contribute to society (Its F'd up is that but its TRUE)--THATS WHY I WOULD NEVER VOTE DEMOCRAT--- I have raised my kids to try hard, focus, be the best they can be, and focus on success --- I dont want them to grow up in a country that punishes them for that!!! Look at our own president-- he never really had a "real" job or owned a business or anything in his life - his mom was on government health care, his aunt is an ILLEGAL Alien who lives/lived in Boston, Mass in public housing for years an years--- gimme a break... the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and he and his ilk do nothing but spread that seed in the minds of the sheep.

To be fair people who came to this country when they were very little and therefore had no say in the matter shouldn't have to be charged with the mistakes their parents made.

They should be deported with the illegals who brought them here in the first place. It's sad a parent would put their child in that situation to begin with. That said they should all still have to own up to the consequences and repercussions of breaking American Laws.

The parents should be deported not the people who came here because they were unable to make the choice themselves.

Obama is not talking about "immigrants". He is defending aliens in this country illegally.

The only problem I have with what you are saying is that 1 major urban area like Chicago contains more people who think like the lady in that video than the total population of "toothless rednecks" in the entire country....

Im not trying to insult your intelligence---- I just feel that there are TENS of millions of people that fit the mold in the above video I posted... I have met many of them who would bow at his feet and ask to wash them for him as if he was JC himself....

So here we are hopeless, changeless, and 8 trillion more in debt.

Only a true cynic can say nothing has changed over the last 3 years.
Health care reform, Wall Street Reform, Iraq war over, troops being withdrawn from Afghanistan, the end of DADT, the refusal to defend DOMA in court, The Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, the stimulus which kept us from the precipice and on and on and on. Nothing happens fast in this country and never has. To expect miracles and to expect Obama to clean up 8 years of Bush disasters in 3 is just irrational.

Do you know how pleasant a change it is on this blog to have a simple conversation with someone without the screaming rants back and forth? It's nice to know it's possible without calling each other unpatriotic and worse. There's something about this place that brings out the worst in people that I don't find, to this degree, on other blogs. Too much partisanship and way too much button pushing, and I'm as gulity as anyone else. I get very defensive when people make outrageous and provably false statements. That irks me to no end, and it usually wind up in personal attacks with reason being the loser.
Anyway, good to know when can discuss without being disgusting. Glad you enjoyed the map. Later,
