Do You Think the U.S. Should Stop Deporting Young Immigrants? (Obama Does)

Barack Obama made headlines Friday as he stated that his administration will no longer deport young illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. when they were children. His announcement, as expected, was met with part-joy and part-skepticism -- as well as a heckler who constantly kept interrupting the president as he spoke.

"These are young people who study in our schools, they play in our neighborhoods, they're friends with our kids, they pledge allegiance to our flag. They are Americans in their heart, in their minds, in every single way but one: on paper," the president said in his speech Friday morning. But he was also quick to add that this is not a permanent answer. "This is not amnesty. This is not immunity. This is not a path to citizenship... It's not a permanent fix," Obama said. Do you think the U.S. should stop deporting young immigrants?

As far as I know of they have never been targeted to begin with. So his order is simply a political ploy to try and gain support among the Hispanic voters.

Almost forgot my pet peeve in this area. This really needs to change ! For some reasons colleges in most states will give illegal alien kids the in state tuition price. They charge legal citizens from out of state more ! They charge students from out of the country that come here legally more !! I am sorry but if you are not here legally I don't care when you came you should NOT get a better shot at a college education then somebody that is a citizen or came here the right way !!!

This is a no brainer. To think phony conservatives would deport young kids. How to make friends and influence people. Sometimes I have to question whose side they are on. They sure are not on the side of the working class.

Baby?? Working Class?? By the way, I work too, I just want to keep the money I make for what my family needs and not have it ripped from my children. Why are these other children worth more than mine? Mine have the right to be here, where they do not. My children do not have the right to be in there country and they and me would be deported from their country. We have already been more compassionate than there country by paying for their birth for free. No one paid for my children births.

Falling for the imaginary fear put forth by phony conservatives is not going to help you keep your money. In fact it will help remove it. You might want to look at the income disparity that has arisen since 1980. Prior to 1980 all income groups rose proportionately. Since 1980 when republicans started making headway, we have America divided between us vs them. The result of this is the rich getting far richer while everyone else stays largely the same.

No one says that their children are worth more than yours. This is suppose to be a free country not Oceania. I frankly don't care what other countries do but I do care what my country does and I don't want my tax dollars going to throwing some poor kid out of this country when he has spent most of his life here and considers himself an American. This is an imaginary fear put forth by republicans. The fact is during good times illegal immigrants are high but during bad times illegal immigrants drop like a lead balloon. So when there is high illegal immigrants, times are good.

Obama made a humane decision. Sometimes one must make the wrong decision (not abiding by a law) for what is right, (a humane decision)

Is it humane to rip food and services form my children for their children. Why are we only worried about other countries children. The number of poor children here in the united states has tripled from the time Obama has been in office. (60 minutes 2 days ago had a piece on it.) How is that humane to make US citizen's children go hungry while paying for other countries children. We should take care of our own first. That is Humane too. Why don't you care about US children?

My grandmother and my mom are exactly that way. I've tried and I've tried and I've tried again to beat some sense into them on this, but they will not budge. I played the clip of him calling for his "Civilian National Security Force" and she claimed it was a fabrication, that it wasn't even his own voice!!! I've tried everything to show them his many, many, many lies and his many, many, many inconsistencies and tyrannical actions, but yet it still is not enough to convince them that he is not what he has claimed at all. >_<

so true , liberals or democrats as we should be calling them now ...will simply say "that can't be" no matter what you show them ...they live on myths lies and half truths and even when you show them a video of their guy saying the exact opposite of what they want to believe they will not accept it - Obama on Pakistan / Obama on gay marriage / Obama on border security + immigration / Obama on banking regulations / Obama on anything if you look back at his old speeches LOL

It's illegal, what part of ILLEGAL don't people understand?! You're breaking the law by just being here and the whole family needs to pack and leave and come here properly like the millions waiting their turn!
I'm sick of this cutting in line crap, there are actual hard working legal immigrants trying to get here and Obama is undercutting their hard work to come here legally.
Obama doesn't have the power to bypass Congress, He's a dictator now because he's trampling all over the constitution in how this country works.
He can't just say "screw the American public,I'm going to do whatever I want..."
He's doing it for votes and furthermore Obama is doing something illegal on top of all the other illegal things he's done, seriously why has this guy not been labeled a traitor yet?
I'm all for immigration but when jackass' try to cut in line in front of honest immigrants it pisses me off.
What he said is just as stupid as when Romney said "They should deport themselves." REALLY?! ugh... :|
It's time this country stated kicking ass and taking names again, what's wrong with Washington?

Well I was born here but my Great, Great Grandparents immigrated, the point isn't me, I'm not doing anything illegal, the point here is that there are MILLIONS of immigrants who are being shafted because there are people who broke the law and cut in line in front of people who are trying to come here the right way.

And my point is the kids bad no choice in coming, they had to. This is just as much of their home as it is yours. They did nothing illegal because they were forced to come.

May not have been their choice but it was their parents choice to bring their kids into an ILLEGAL situation and now the kids have to pay for it, the parents brought the kids into this country and now they should leave with their parents, if they want to be a part of this country they should have to wait like millions of others.
Tell me, why should they get to cut in front of people who've waited years to get in this country legally?

Children who are brought here by their parents should be deported along with them. Children born in the US, even to illegal immigrants, are US citizens by birth according to law.

The Pres believes in the rule of law, but very selectively. He seems to thing that Congress is overworked and has decided to help them do their job. He also appears to believe the SCOTUS is overworked with Constitutional issues, so he helps them decide Constitutional Law.

No wonder he doesn't have time to do his job and the economy is allowed to slide.

Illegals can't get jobs that require you to go to college, a good chunk haven't gone, most of the jobs illegals go for are manual labor jobs, so unless your granddaughter wants to become a construction worker then she shouldn't use illegal immigrants as the reason why she can't get a job.

If the children were given the choice..most would rather be with their parents..& they would be deported as well as the parents.. but children born in the u.s should not be deported but if at anytime they deviate from the law, instead of prison send them back to their parents' country of birth.

Wish this guy would get a real clue.

If someone comes into your house without permission, it's breaking the law; it never mattered if they didn't know the law, as ignorance is no excuse. If they come into a country without permission it's the same thing.

If a kid is born outside the U.S. and is brought is by parents, send them all back, parents and children.
If a kid came here by themselves, send them back. We hold our own children who are citizens to the same laws, why not those who come from other nations?
Amnesty is a joke as it does not do anything but either pass the problem down the line or encourage more to come in hopes of another "Amnesty Fix".
Paper does matter, especially if you hold your own citizens to that law, then so should anyone who comes to the U.S. illegally.

The thing that needs to be addressed it how difficult becoming a citizen is, aside from trickery like the anchor baby issue.
I've several friends that are illegal and it's almost unanimous between them as to why they came here illegally. The system in place takes too long to get anywhere and according to them is also very selective. I'm not sure if it is corruption or the system is just dated, but that is where the problem lies.
They know my stance on things and they know that I would support them ...

They know my stance on things and they know that I would support them being deported if it every came to that. That may sound cruel and heartless, but in reality if you come here and never have any intention of becoming a citizen then I say the boot to you and come back when you are ready.

Obama needs to fix the wound and not put some campaign band-aid on things.
