Do You Think the U.S. Should Stop Deporting Young Immigrants? (Obama Does)

Barack Obama made headlines Friday as he stated that his administration will no longer deport young illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. when they were children. His announcement, as expected, was met with part-joy and part-skepticism -- as well as a heckler who constantly kept interrupting the president as he spoke.

"These are young people who study in our schools, they play in our neighborhoods, they're friends with our kids, they pledge allegiance to our flag. They are Americans in their heart, in their minds, in every single way but one: on paper," the president said in his speech Friday morning. But he was also quick to add that this is not a permanent answer. "This is not amnesty. This is not immunity. This is not a path to citizenship... It's not a permanent fix," Obama said. Do you think the U.S. should stop deporting young immigrants?

No one. The law states that they're not allowed to come in without a passport, visa, green card, or whatever.

Look, they can come all they want, that's not the issue I have. The issue I have is that they're not legally supposed to be here. If they want to change the laws or whatever, I would have no issue.

And this isn't just an American law. This is international. Crossing any international border without the proper authorization is illegal.

How would you feel if you were thrown out of your country and then told you are illegal.. ie California.. Texas, lets read our history. Alamo. Revolutionary,

Perhaps you need to read your Texas history. Texas fought for its independence, but allowed the Mexicans to stay after we won it. The Mexicans who stayed became Texas citizens. We didn't kick anyone out. Yes, there are laws now, but there are immigration laws everywhere. Why should we be different just because we share a border?

The people who are coming over the border never owned Texas, by the way. They're (for the most part) descendants of people who lived in Mexico.

Countrys have borders just as property owners do. One doesn't open a neighbors door or yard without permission. Otherwise it's called breaking and entering and punishable by the law. This is an understanding among any and all populations, tribes, countries and communities. To ignore this understanding is to ignore basic courtesy or respect for others. Would you want a neighbor to enter your home and help themselves to your food, clothing, personal belongings and money? Not unless your in a coma! It's called common sense and civilized behavour! I have too much respect for those who do respect America enough, to enter legally! This means applying for citizenship while using a temporary visa or green card until the oath of citizenship takes place. For them I will do anything I can to help and encourage them. To others I expect our laws to deport them or, offer the opportunity to become legal citizens. I would support those who are old enough to join our military for a prescribed term of enlistment with an understanding this would automatically give them citizenship with a proper record of service! This would include both genders. Every country that illegals come from have horrific penalties for 'illegals', including imprisonment and huge fines that would financially bankrupt most people. THINK!!

What you're saying Bonnie is that just because you worked and earned the money to buy your new car, everyone should have the right to use it whenever they want to. They shouldn't have to make the payments, buy the gas, pay for repairs, parking, or keep it clean, just drive it! By the way Bonnie, STOP... please, using Gods' name to
imply that only evil people try to protect what they have earned. Read the Bible of the man who gave an equal amount of money to 3 of his 'workers' saying let me see how well you takecare of what I have given to you. I will reward you accordingly.
Later upon his return he asked each of them what they did with the money. One said I invested it wisely and have earned triple what you trusted to me. He was given a huge reward for his wisdom. The second man said he had used 'part' of it to invest and had doubled the money. He was given double what he had been given. But the 3rd man said he had hidden it so no one would steal it and had earned nothing, but it was safe. The 'master' was angered by his foolishness and told him to leave and never return. We shouldn't get what we haven't earned Bonnie!

Im not saying that...An intellegent person can see that talking and screaming about it is not bring a solution to the table. What would you do to solve the problem I am hearing the complaints but what can be a real solution.? No one knows. The story that you are telling is in the bible, but you are not acting very spiritual when you talk about human being gods children like they are animals in a cage. I will pray for you and yours... No, it's not. 64% of the American people agree with Obama. You anti American Cons are in the minority as usual with your extremist views. We would be glad to be herded into cities and suburbs, that's where most people live anyway. The vast wasteland you Cons live in is as backward and uncivilized as your attitudes.

I don't know where you come from Joseph, but Texas is one of our 50 'United States"! You sound like you hate America and this makes me wonder if you're a danger to our safety!! This great nation is the only nation I know of, that no one can honestly swear they know someone who put their entire family in a leaky boat to ESCAPE AMERICA! To you Joseph, I do know of one who did just that, to escape his country's Communist dictatorship and, 2 others who escaped countries because of their horrific lives under Communist tyranny! The real America is made up of strong, hard working, honest, compassionate, generous people who love God, their families and this country! These are the people who are there for anyone who needs help, here or around the world. Millions come from Texas!

Bardog, you have just answered the question about how Americas' education system has failed! Too many 'bardogs' can't learn because they're... 'bardogs'. It also could be because the educational system has lowered the bar of learning to a level that allows non english speaking students to learn, and of course ...'bardogs'. It can also be said that the 'knowledge' standards of teaching, including Americas' history, spelling, math etc. has been lowered for too many teachers which doesn't require they learn these subjects in a way they can teach them. When Jay Leno approached "Berkley' students with the question, "Who is your favorite President?" Only one of the five students gave an answer! the others just shook their heads and uttered "UHM?" except one who answered, "Benjamin Franklin" and jumped up and down with delight! You just keep judging others 'bardog', so you can't hear them laugh at your lack of knowledge!

The Small Arms Treaty, now "The Arms Treaty" which will remove all 'small' weapons from the people who obey the laws. Then only the government and the criminals, including those in Mexico, who were given our guns courtesy of Eric Holder, will have guns, 'for protection'. These 3 treaties are so dangerous to Americans which is why I love your humor but not the dark reality! If he can buy the votes of all illegals, not just Hispanic, he could have another 4 years to literally change America into a Socialis Regime with him as the dictator. After what he's done, ignoring our Constitution, forcing us to pay into a socialist government who now owns banks, the auto industry, Wall Street, etc. his idea of medical protection, and taking away our strong and valued independence, replaced by government dependant mentality, I'm just a little worried!!

Sorry for the volume of my opinions based on some excellent resources for information, but just had to speak out! By the way I'm coming to Tenn'see with my daughters for my birthday and am looking forward to this beautiful state and its' warm people!

Thank you for your informative message. I agree with you. From watching Sean Hannity and the O'Reilly Factor, I have seen Dick Morris discuss some of the issues you have raised. They are very important issues and need to be discussed more often.

I hope you have a very happy birthday in Tennessee! Which part will you be visiting? We live in East Tennessee, near Knoxville, and 40 miles from Dollywood and the birthplace of Dolly Parton. You also have Chattenooga in the southeast, Nashville in the center and Memphis in the west. There are also many lakes, mountains and campgrounds in between. The only thing we do not have is the ocean. Enjoy!

Mestizos came here from Spain and Indians crossed the Aleutians before they were Islands, and long before any of them Spaniards did. There was no rule of law, until we European-Americans settled this land (and by the way, we BOUGHT Manhattan and much more of this Nation from both of them - nothing illegal about that, and as for the warring, show me ANY Nation that was not borne out of war). We had EVERY Right to settle this Nation, and settle it we did. And just because these Southern-Americans #ucked themselves over centuries and centuries ago, being heathen barbarians while we worked our asses off to set up a prosperous Nation, is tough titty! So your point?

I don't think he said 'we bought most of the land from the Native Americans". I think he said 'we bought New York and most of the land from the natives and (sic) Spaniards". He didn't mention that we also bought a great deal of the South in "the Louisiana Purchase" from France, after the French American War, in which many Indians fought for America with Andrew Jackson, who later became President. America is like humans, not perfect, without sin, but constantly trying, over the centuries, to evolve and become the best country in the world! Considering how many people risk their lives to come here, we've done something right. Personally, I believe that many Americans people have "Native" in their DNA and should, and those who know are, proud of this fact.
