Do you think the taxes should be raised on ammunition and guns?

I don't think we should be taxed for anything. Especially when it hinders our right to bear arms.

If people can get "free" healthcare, I should be able to get "free" ammo...

Absolutely not...the only tax increases should be on the progressive liberals as a penalty, so they can pay back the people for the GIANT mess they've made.

I don't shoot people, I go to the range and practice for competitions. If all the other BS was pushed aside, I would simply be against this because it makes one of my main habits very expensive. I also believe that the government is trying to make it harder for civilians to protect themselves, which has some suspicious implications. Since we have a Constitutional Right to Bear Arms, this is one of the only ways they can try and control guns at this point, which is by discouraging people from buying them as much as possible or make it impossible to stock ammo.

    "Shall not be infringed".

The machine gun tax or even phony federal interstate commerce jurisdiction is already unconstitutional but convenient, with high courts not getting or not accepting any challenge.

The "sporting purposes" clause comes to mind as well, as if the 2nd Amendment is only about hunting.

Because they could make a ton of money by taxing corporate and big donations for those who try to buy the elections, on either side. Wouldn't the taxpayers make out on that tax!

ammo has gone up 10 full dollars in price since 6 months ago. That is not the normal stuff you are referring to, though you are correct.

Many anti gunners will want this but, how are they going to feel when taxes are raised on an item or activity they use or participate in? A tax like this unfairly targets one group of people. It also represents an attack against the second amendment and the lower and middle class people who use guns for hunting, target shooting, or self defense. Unfair taxation without representation.

I'm too old to pick up and move. I have a daughter in college, a granddaughter, both parent are in very poor health, my home will be paid for in 5 years. If they make it a federal law you will pay tax, the increase will just be raised on the shelf instead of the register. I friend of mine to a supervisors position in FL where there is no income tax. He couldn't believe how expensive everything is.

Just a sneaky way to take defense away from the people who need it most. The police are not there to protect you. They are really there to protect business. Who will you turn to when faced with an attacker?

We get taxed on the money we make, taxed again on money earned from saving a penny, taxed on stuff we buy, taxed to own a home, taxes everywhere. There would only be one tax.
