Actually ..
if anything .. I've gotten even more Conservative down through the years ..
(always worked hard .. always life was a challenge .. and yes, I was on my own early indeed) ..
I claimed I was a liberal until I grew up and realized those views would lead to a lack of individual liberty. I have been a registered independent ever since. I am right leaning lately.
When I was 18 I discovered much to my amazement that the Democratic Party was in favor of sex, drugs and rock and roll. I didn't really have any strong political leanings until I was 30 when I discovered much to my amazement that the Democratic Party was in favor of killing the unborn.
In the intervening years I have learned that there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. World peace is a pipe dream. Humanity is actually an integral part of the eco system. Getting ahead is damn near impossible. We do the best we can with what we've got.
I've swung more anit-death penalty. I've found that as I get older that I have gotten more compassionate and conservative. That might be one a couple of reasons for my shift.
I was a liberal at 16 but a conservative by age 18. I turned 18 the year that 18 year olds got the right to vote. I've voted in every general election since.
Yes and no. After college, my position only became stronger, more concrete. Probably because my government professor was a die-hard progressive liberal. Boy, I sure was a thorn in his side but on the upside, I made friends...Liberty is still popular, gives me hope.
Yes, at 18, as same as I knew at the age of 10 years old and now at age 52; all those in our high government are no good, corrupt to the core, lying, thieving, scumbags of the earth. No matter what party they are.
