No. Change is not always best. Leave the traditions where they are and according to many Native Americans, they are not offended.

Be real, nothing can be more stereotypical than the Fighting Irish.

When fighting irish changes then I'll consider any of the others.

I am descended partly from Cherokee and it makes me proud. I don't know why the buffoons want to try to separate people. I am also descended from Vikings, have you heard any complaints about that?

The Indians I know could care less. The few, loud vocal ones scream about everything so no one forgets that they are entitled as well.

The New England Patriots should also change their name because it encourages Tea Party extremism. Look at how offensive this logo is:

It's interesting to see the reliance that some of our native americans have on the non-Native liberal champions of the Redskins discussion. The Natives who want this discussion to happen should care 100% more about what Native people think about the Redskins, and whether the name is offensive, than what non-Natives think about the Redskins. And in their world, they seem more divided on this issue than United.

    * A widely cited 2004 poll from the Annenberg Public Policy Center says that 90% of Native Americans are not bothered by the term 'Redskins.

    * ESPN Sportswriter Rick Reilly quoted his father-in-law, Blackfeet Elder Bob Burns, in a column defending the use of the name.

    * There are Native American schools that call their teams Redskins. The term is used affectionately by some natives!!!

    * The Red Mesa school district on the Navajo Nation reservation, has a High school who's football team is...(wait for it)...the Red Mesa Redskins!!!!

    * North Dakota caved into pressure from a similar controversy over the state university’s Fighting Sioux nickname. It was decisively scrapped in a 2012 statewide vote except the people that mattered most; the native americans in the Spirit Lake reservation voted in 2010 to keep it!!

*Over 500 native american schools in this country use some form of Chiefs, Indians, Braves, or Redskins as their mascot or nickname... If the people it supposedly offends are using those same names, why is it such a big deal to the libs?

In fact One would be hard-pressed to find any contemporary use of redskins as a slur. Its usage is intended to be taken as a compliment!!!!

So why the sudden outrage? What self hating guilt ridden "whiteskin" group brought up an issue that wasnt really an issue to those it mattered most?

I find it disgusting that so many liberal voices with self righteous (self centered) motives deeming things as offensive and racist to put themselves above others yet they do NOTHING to actually help. They stir hatred wtih divisiveness but never actually make a real effort, this is what I see in the media generally and this is the cause that your NCAI suddenly took up . The logo itself doesn't seem to have the intention of being offensive but its still a superficial issue, like so many liberal people are only capable of focusing on because they don't want to do the heavy lifting. For example, returning back to the Red Mesa, the school superintendent was quoted as saying “We just don’t think the name is an issue,” . “There are more important things like busing our kids to school, the water settlement, the land quality, the air that surrounds us. Bottom line, if you're going to make a difference, make a real difference otherwise piss off and go cry in someone else's cheerio's.
