I have noticed a deeper divide in anti- Paul and pro- Paul supporters! I think this is going to be a nasty election..I figure as the election draws near it will get even more nasty..I predict it will be the dirtiest election in USA history and I figure that the battle and debates will heat up more as we enter November..Folks, I am not so happy about this election but I will continue posting my thoughts..Hopefully we can have a little civility here but I doubt it..I have seen some passionate folks speaking out with much vigor! Do you think the political climate will get more nasty on Sodahead?

IF is a HUGE word. Either way he is a loser even IF he gets 1% of the Democrats which is doubtful.

Ron Paul supporters were "out of the woodwork" long before your so called presumptive Republican candidate and are not militant as you claim. They have been at the receiving end of abuse and voter fraud. That's why lawyers and other legal people are now working pro bono to start a civil suit against the RNC for fraudulent practices.
  • Scott Dodgerfan 2012/06/14 13:01:10

Take it easy Dodger! I mentioned my personal experience - period. I personally have bumped into a lot more Ron Paul supporters since Romney became presumptive. And, the supporters I've come across seem to have a real chip on their shoulders; they're mean! Like Obamunite mean. They attack Romney as bad or worse than any progressive.

All I'm saying is that we need to keep our eyes on the prize - and it ain't 4 more years of Obama!

I've heard that the head of the RNC was bitching about voter fraud in Wisconsin just prior to June 5 election. Ron Paul's lawyers can sue if they want, they might even win. Then what? The election will have been over for a year or two by then.

I think Dr. Paul has some really good domestic policy ideas and plans. I think he could better serve our country working WITH the Romney administration heading up Domestic Policy Council. That would be a powerful alliance.

If your idea of mean is telling the truth then yes we are all mean then. Why didn't you address the issue of Romney supporters physically attacking Paul's at caucuses and conventions?

There is no prize in an election and especially when it is a one party system that has been in effect for fifty years. You can change the names but the players are the same save for Ron Paul who refuses to play their game.
  • Scott Dodgerfan 2012/06/14 19:36:57

No, when I said mean, I meant disagreeable, over the top behavior.

I didn't bring up anyone physically attacking Ron Paul because A) it wasn't the topic of conversation and B) I'm not sure it even happened and, C) If the Ron Paul supporters are as disagreeable as YOU are, it was justified.

It's currently a two party system. You want to make it a three party system and by doing so the result could be that it becomes a one party tyranny.

It's clear that you are one of the fringe-y people I've heard about. There's no possibility of having a reasonable debate with the likes of you. You are not being courageous or patriotic in this thing, it's more like pathetic. Ron Paul doesn't have a snowballs chance in the election. And as another SH'r pointed out earlier, there's chance that Ron Paul as a third party guy might swing a good number of former Obamunites Paul's way, thereby weakening Obama's vote. Either way, Paul hasn't a chance.

When you use a word like "mean" to characterize a body of people then you have disaffected those who have given millions from their own pockets to fund Ron Paul's campaign and I being one. I am not mean and have not used language that has been used against me on SH. I have been ridiculed and cursed because I refuse to vote for Obamney. It is a two sided coin that will only buy one thing and that is destruction of the US.

It isn't about chances, it's about changing the way we do things in this country. That includes: stop policing the world, stop the Fed from printing money and making our savings worthless, stop the welfare both for rich and poor, stop expecting the state to take care of every little problem and stop the president with executive orders and the supreme court with overruling voters from making laws instead of congress. This is not a complete listing but it's a start.

IMO you are the unpatriotic, pathetic one who will not see the noose placed around our necks by politicians who sold out to the "big money" for a sack of silver.
  • Scott Dodgerfan 2012/06/14 20:06:25

Dodger, I gave to Ron Pauls campaign as well. I told you earlier I was an earlier supporter; until I learned about his foreign policy stance.

I suppose when you say "Obamney" you are trying to be clever and indicate that there is no difference between Obama and Romney. I think you are wrong.

Your cause is NOT patriotic. It is lost. Romney wasn't my first choice but I honestly believe he is better choice than Ron Paul and a hell of a lot better choice than Obama.

I think I'm done trying to talk sense with you Dodger. Enjoy the election season - and hey, if we both loose, I'll see you in the FEMA camps. I call it - top bunk!

Go right ahead and vote for either, I won't be canceling you out unless I can write in RP. The law says a candidate has to file as a write in candidate to be eligible and I doubt Paul will go that far. He held his peace during the campaign when he was shortchanged on questions and time allotment during the debates thus keeping voters in the dark on his views. Most of the time if he was asked something it was an absolutely ridiculous question having no bearing on the issues. So, if he didn't raise cane then he isn't going to do anything now.

His foreign policy is dead on target and if we don't adopt it soon then this empire will collapse from its own weight.

I have children and grandchildren and this problem will haunt them for their entire lives as we have pushed the trouble down the line rather than deal with it. Politicians and the uninformed have brought us here. Ron Paul has tried since the seventies to correct our course but it may be too late now.

It took a nasty turn when the Libs got their butts kicked in the 2010 election and has kept on intensifying since then.
Then there is the pro-Paul supporters.

The nastiest of the Paul supporters used to argue the hard left, anti-American, hard core Lib line. When Paul declared his candidacy they became Paul supporters in an attempt to fracture the GOP.

I spent my younger days in Little League and then high school ball. Now my oldest is in Little League. It's worse than when I played... with parents getting red faced, screaming at kids on the opposing team. Cussing like a drunk sailor when kicked out of the game.

So it goes with politics. People align with the person/team they perceive as the rightful winner and then lose all control and are consumed with blind rage when that person is challenged. Rational thinking becomes a blur. Remember the guy at the Rand Paul rally who placed a steel toed boot on the neck of a 100 pound women? Really now. There is absolutely no excuse for that kind of behavior.

There is mistrust in our elected officials and everyone wants to find someone to blame. People want to be on the " right' side,.... their side. It validates them. It elevates them. Rather than pointing at one another, we should be pointing to those on The Hill who caused this mess and who are doing precious little to make things better.

Yes, unfortunately. A good offense is the best defense, and the Republicans have no defense for how they have stymied our economic recovery for purely partisan political gain. I predict they will be slinging B.S. like a snowblower in a stockyard, hoping people will either get disgusted and stay home, or that it will blind enough people for them to steal yet another election.

Bud, he has enacted 21 tax cuts for middle income people. he got us out of the economic Black Hole of the Iraq War. He signed the Lily Ledbetter Act which allows women to make the same amount of money as men for doing the same job. That might not seem like a big deal to you, but it might have been your wife or daughter that was getting screwed out of a fair wage.

He has been unable to get the Republicans to enact a single jobs bill, yet they have filibustered Democratic legislation over 200 times over the course of his term. What does that say to their level of cooperation? How do we know what his policies might have enacted, when the Republicans haven’t allowed any?

This country is fundamentally a two-party system. It used to be when one party got into power, they were pretty much allowed to legislate and make policy according to the dictates of their political/economic/social philosophy. Not any more. The Republicans rule as they see fit when in power, and when out of power they block everything they don’t agree with, or that MIGHT make the Democrats look good to the voters. Everything. No matter how much the country might suffer from their ideological arrogance.

Basically, they would have a single party in power, permanently. Theirs.

In some countries, that’s called totalitarianism.

If you want to know why this country continues to teeter on the brink of disaster, try looking in the damn mirror.

What planet are you on? I live in a real world, here on Mother earth, and know that everything Obama has touched has been made worst. It matters little if he has given all his friends everything possible, when the debt breaks our back everything falls apart. I support opposition to his drunken spending. It is asking future generations to pay a bill that is not possible. Repubs did support his near trillion dollar stimulus bill, that for your own reasons, has been forgotten. We got no jobs and who knows where the money went. No body is talking. It takes uninformed, ignorant, fools to, after 3.5 years, to think you want to give him more opportunity to harm this once great nation
My wife worked for 40 years and NEVER had a problem with how much she made as compared to others. I am red, white, and blue American and ready to join a revolution to take the nation back.

Bud, you need to lok up the term cognative dissonance. You suffer from it. Badly.
Good for ypur wife. If she was happy making less money than a man for doing the same work, good for her. I’m sure her employer appreciated it when hr put that money in his own pocket.

Where was your opposition to Bush’s drunken spending? Where was your opposition when Congress raised the debt limit 7 times in 8 years while he was in office?

The Bush tax cuts to the wealthy was supposed to promote job growth. Where are all those jobs Bud? They’ve had 12 years to produce jobs. Where are they?

It takes uninformed ignorant fools to keep Republicans in office.

And you would join a revolution to keep yourself in chains. I pity you.

Bud, I don’t need anyone to explain it to me, but I know it wasn't going along all peachy and then fell off the edge of the cliff just because Obama was elected. Things don’t turn around that fast. Especially when the Republicans have filibustered his policies over 200 times. Actually they have filibustered over 300 times since 2007, but who’s counting, right?

The national debt has risen the highest under the guidance, and following the policies of three Republican presidents; Reagan, Bush I and Bush II. In fact, those three contributed more to the national debt than all other presidents combined. So much for the myth of fiscally conservative Republicans.
