Do you think the over 100 million people on welfare are Obama supporters?

The numbers keep going up. With a dismal economy and Barack Obama's encouragement of people to keep on programs like food stamps, the increase in welfare recipients has been dramatic. According to the Census Bureau, there are over 100 million people on welfare.
about 12 million new people were added to the welfare rolls in just the two years from 2009 to 2011. AND... the total number of 108,000,000 does NOT include those receiving Social Security or Medicare.

Food stamps and Medicaid make up a large--and growing--chunk of the more than 100 million recipients. "Among the major means tested welfare programs, since 2000 Medicaid has increased from 34 million people to 54 million in 2011 and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, or food stamps) from 17 million to 45 million in 2011," says the Senate Budget Committee. "Spending on food stamps alone is projected to reach $800 billion over the next decade."

You betcha. And if you disagree I think you're kidding yourself. In fact, Obama even threw them a bone by ending the Welfare to Work program, replacing it with plain old get a check and do nothing welfare.

Your comprehension of statistics is astoundingly poor or more likely mis-represented to support a position....there are not 100 million people on welfare - there are 100 million people living in household receiving government money - a much different thing unless you can provide a different statistic than the one I believe you are referring to.... The real number of Americans receiving welfare is about 8% of the population (which I agree is too many) but at least start with the real facts as opposed to making completely false statement also known as lying. This is how you get labeled a RWNJ and completely sap your own credibility.

Even 100 million HOUSEHOLDs sounds like too much ----- but then again - if u r counting; SS, Food Stamps, Federal disability, Medicaid/Medicare, etc --------- Yeah, then quite possible!

It's not even that clear in the body but the headline is a complete lie. Headline says 108 million people are on Welfare and you know that's not true. Your mother would call that a lie.

And that 100 million figure seems rather high. That's practically 1 in 3 people getting some kind of federal assistance.
I don't know about y'alls lil corner of the country (family, friends, neighbors) ; it's a good 10-1, if not more - that DON'T get federal assistance.

No I don’t think everyone on welfare chose it as a “career” option. There are some hard working individuals who would prefer to be working but may not be able to find a job.

I'm a Disable Veteran and am receiving SSI Disablity , VA comp. and a LTD from Ins. I had with the Company I use to work for, And there will be a Blizzard in Hell before I vote for Obama, I refuse to apply for food stamps, even tho I have everyone round me telling me to apply, but if I can keep going with want I got coming in to pay bills , rent, gas, and food, I and have enough to see at least 1 movie a month at the theater, then I don't need them. There are other people I do know that needs them, and that's fine cause I know most of them use them Legally, but then I have see some go off and sell them under the counter and use them for other than the purpose they are not intended for. But I will not be part of that system.

Totally agree 53 myself ,was in the first gulf war myself, was in Kuwait, But I got 80% of bills paid off the only one I got left is the Car, the rest are the typical bills Utility's, a small loan, so I can still get food food without the use of food stamps and I do feel good about that, but like I said there are some folks who need it, That's NP, but there are some that misuse them and they are the ones that need a foot sunny side in and twisted.

To say all people on welfare support the democrat party is an over generalization. Most of the welfare recipients who are generational will always support the hand that feeds them not the finger that makes them work for it.

They may not all support Obama, but they all support bigger government, which Romney also represents. That's the problem with democracy -- two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner. As soon as the voters realize they can vote for government "freebies" for themselves, they start to devour the producers in their society until there are no more producers to feed off and the whole thing collapses. That is why every democracy that has ever existed has eventually collapsed into chaos. Only freedom and respect for property rights (broadly defined) can create self-sustaining peace and prosperity, both of which are impossible under majority rule, or any other kind of coercive government.

Let's hope that these people on free stuff do not register to vote or are eligible to vote. The League of Women's Voters group may go door to door to recruit them to register and promise them more free stuff if they vote. This is disastrous on our Treasury that 1/3 of our population just stay home, get freebies without ever being encouraged to get jobs and be independent again. The country is so deeply in debt we need ways to pay back what we owe China and other foreign countries. We need to get those who are on the dole the training or incentives to get them to work and become productive members of society again.

In the early days of our Republic those people would not have been eligible to vote. There was a "property" requirement to be eligible to vote. Somehow, somewhere that requirement was dropped and then the leeches are there sucking off the substance of the producing class. In my own opinion, we would do well to return to that requirement. The "property" could be as small as a plot of land which one pays taxes on, a house, apartment building which one owns, storefront or even a self-employed businessperson such as a handyman "owning" his own business which travels with him in the form of a pickup truck which his tools are in. Another form of "property" which should be accepted would be an honorable discharge from the Armed Forces.

Of course, if we tried to do that, there would be cries of "racism" and "disinfranchisement."

Those same people don't seem to have a problem with it though when a certain party tries to throw away whole loads of mail-sacks of ballots from U.S. Military overseas.
