Do you think the identity of the zodiac killer will ever be revealed?

Britty June 21, 2007 22:18:22

"The Zodiac Killer was a serial killer who operated in Northern California for ten months in the late 1960s. He coined his name in a series of taunting letters he sent to the press until 1974. His letters included four cryptograms or ciphers, three of which have yet to be solved.

The Zodiac murdered five known victims in Benicia, Vallejo, Lake Berryessa, and San Francisco between December 1968 and October 1969. Four men and three women between the ages of 16 and 29 were targeted. Others have been inconclusively proposed to be Zodiac victims as well.

The killer's identity remains unknown. The San Francisco Police Department marked the case "inactive" in April 2004 and reopened it some time before March 2007. The case remains open in other jurisdictions as well." - Wikipedia

They will when people stop looking for just ONE killer...The confusion in DNA, hand-writing, motives, prints, timelines and locales all suggest at least two men were responsible for these 68-9 crimes. And I'm not yet discounting The Manson Family, especially Bruce Davis, in at least one of the murders...Jack Tarrance is NOT the Zodiac killer - Mark My Words - and the DNA results will prove I am right! He may have had a copycat urge but he was not one of the original killers.

    Yes

Yep probably after he's dead and we play around with all of our new technology the cops would be like, oh so his name was Fill, or Jimmy, and he actually did this this and this and this is how he got away for so long. And then after that probably another movie would be inspired by him and then that'll be it. But right now we wont.

We all beleive we live in a CSI type of world and we will always figure out who done it but its not really like that. Chances are they will never find out.

    Yes

Sure, just like they're always revealing the identity of Jack The Ripper.

I don't even think they are looking anymore, that case gives a new meaning to a cold case.

Like Tammy said, it's a case that has gone cold..whether or not someone would be able to decrypt the messages in the future, it might not do much good since the killer might be long gone from this world..(40 years..the killer must've been in his 60's now or older).

It sure has been a long time, I think that he is either in jail for something else or is dead. But, I sure would love to see him caught and brought to justice for his crimes.

I hope so. It would probially mean a lot to the family of the victims.

As others have posted, this one, will probably remain unresolved. We are coming up on the 40th anniversary and the perp would be in his late 60's to early 70's (at the young end of the spectrum of possibilities).

It's probably going to end up being a case like the Dahlia, where there is all this folklore surrounding the case, history channel docs, friends and family who remember the strangest behavior, but never "really" knew the victims, lame movies, and such but will ultimately never be solved.

If you watched Zodiac, they pretty much know who it was. They just can't pinpoint him because he died, and shortly thereafter the Zodiac was never heard from again

I think if they haven't figured it out by now they wont. He sent notes to the police and they still couldn't figure it out. If by some chance the do figure it out in the next 20 years it will be too late as by then he will most likely alredy be dead.

Once day, I think we'll have technology advanced enough to figure it out.
