The public did not view Romney as an extremist. For example, when Priorities informed a focus group that Romney supported the Ryan budget plan — and thus championed “ending Medicare as we know it” — while also advocating tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, the respondents simply refused to believe any politician would do such a thing. What became clear was that voters had almost no sense of Obama’s opponent. While conducting a different focus group — this one with non-college-educated Milwaukee voters on the eve of Wisconsin’s April 3 primary — Burton and Sweeney were surprised to learn that even after Romney had spent months campaigning, many in the group could not recognize his face, much less characterize his positions. Compounding the Republican nominee’s strangely persistent obscurity is that, as Garin told me, “Romney is not a natural politician in the sense of embracing opportunities to talk about himself.”

Romney isn't an extremist because he has no strong core beliefs and is akin to a chameleon: He supports extremist policy merely because he is riding actual extrmeists towards the presidency.
He is an extremist also on issues with women, no help, no birth control, no public clinics, no equal pay. Women are 2nd class citizens to him, his political party, his religion. Just look at congress who has wasted tax dollars fighting against and introducing a record amount of anti-abortion bills in congress. When the actual number of abortions performed in the U.S. as a whole is less than that half of 1%.
He has something to hide, Tricky Mitt, why else would he not supply his tax returns. His own party pestered him for them for months and he still refused, Mitt wants everyone to drop it, why, it has been less than a year. Especially after they cried about Obama's birth certificate, he supplied it and it was verified and they still pestered him about for 2 more years. No Mitt not enough time has passed, what are you hiding?
No, now he's not. Darn it I can't peg him down.
