Romney's a lousy choice, but Obama lost popularity due to his affiliation with Al Sharpton. Obama opened his mouth about Trayvon Martin but did not condemn murderous threats by "Black Panthers." Obama should have been more careful when first becoming President, not to let Sharpton hook him. Sadly it could become a racial downfall for Obama, more than the economy. Obama is really a good U.S. President but too many African Americans turned Obama's Presidency racial themselves.

Obama will lose the election because elections are won or lost on economics. The New Deal did not work. Obama does not understand how money and markets work. You will also see increased taxes big time, once obamacare goes into full effect. Democratic party is the socialist party without a name, and now they seem not to be hiding it anymore. American People have caught on to this crap. Look for the Republicans to take both house and senate seats as well.

The New Deal did work but was not used strongly enough. In 37 when FDR backed off it the country regressed. In 40 when WWII keynesian spending occurred, a sleeping giant had awoken.

If the goal was to increase the number of people dependent upon the government and saddle the free market with crippling regulations, the yes it worked. However, if the goal was to improve the lives of the people and grow the economy, it was a bust.
American manufacturing got a huge boost from the fact that most of the rest of the free world was already caught up in WWII; it had nothing to do with Keynesian economics, which is just smoke and mirror tactics to steal from the productive and give to the non-productive.
