His upbringing doesn't matter to me, neither does who he surrounds himself with. That's his personal business, not mine. I base my opinion on how he's done during his term. He was able to pass into effect bills and regulations that personally helped myself and my family. Without him I would not have health care.

If your vote is based solely on a candidates personal life (his upbringing, friends, religious beliefs, sexuality, etc.) you need to take some time and realize that what's really important in choosing a candidate is his/her ability to run a country.

Think about it this way, would you like it if your employer fired you because your friend was smoking pot while you were at home reading a book? I highly doubt it.

Lest we forget...Republicans ruled the House during 6 out of 8 years of the Clinton administration...and it is the policies from the House that drove those years...the country was in shambles in the first two years when the Dems had the House...

This country is very divided and even this vote demonstrates that. I want Obama to win because I do believe we are better off than we were 3 years ago. The Bush tax cuts and Bush policies put this country in a terrible situation - worse economic mess since the Great Depression. It took Roosevelt 12 years and a war to pull this country out of that one which also had been precipitated by the Republican policies of Coolidge and Hoover. Give Obama 4 more years. The Republicans are scared silly because they know at the end of that time, our country will have righted itself and they will have a tougher time winning in 2016.

First the great depression started just after WWi. There were several presidents that tried to fix the problem. Second part is do a little research, you will find that presidents sign laws that don't take effect for 4-12 years. This is done to help screw the next president. Regan did little of this. All since then have done it. Both parties are to blame. Unfortunately the Democrats want to start a Socialist system. How has that worked for the socialist countries so far. Most have failed, broke or in poverty.

I still think he missed huge opportunities to battle the recession by rebuilding infrastructure that would make our economy competitive for years to come, instead of yielding to Republican policies of handing out bailouts to banks and tax breaks for the wealthy. I think he compromises too much. But he is still far better than anyone the Republicans have put forward.

He hasn't had the support of Congress for the infrastructure he, too, wanted to build. Imagine how much good he might have done if not all the time battered by those who only think of THEMSELVES and their PARTY. I an independent, and I have no reluctance to vote for a second term for President Obama. I shudder at the thought of Romney in leadership...God help us!

Who COULD have made you better off than you were 3 years ago? Bush had to go into hiding after all he did to us. He is responsible for what has happened. There was no one who was magical to elect. President Obama has done a great job, especially with unjust criticisms similar to yours. I have worked for pathological liars (with an 'a')...they're easy to spot...President Obama seeks the truth and seeks fairness and seeks honesty. He has my vote!

God, I hope he loses. This country will be in great trouble if he should win in November 2012. If people think that our country is going in the right direction, just wait until he campaigns another four years. Where are these people (Obama lovers) get their information, and where they getting their economic outlook for our future. People that are supporting him scare me out of my fears, his tatics and etc. When he gets more of his transformational agendas, people will not know what hits them in the ass.
