Do you think President Bush and the American Government did everything to prevent (and help afterwards) Hurricae Katrina?

I have to write a research paper for a World History class & I chose Hurricane Katrina as my topic. I wanted to add in a poll of opinions on the United States's response to Hurricane Katrina.

No, State and Local government completely failed to handle evacuations properly, or provide proper protection for residents.

President Bush advised people to leave days in advance; they stayed. After the event, the state was supposed to ask the federal government for help...the feds cannot just show up at a disaster. The state's foolish governor delayed. Do I think more could have been done later? Probably, but the initial poor response was on the heads of New Orlean's mayor and the state's governor.

I was there and saw it all as a contractor. Supplies were brought in to help the people and fema would not let the people have those supplies. The people who were kept in to the dome at gunpoint were within walking distance of dry beds, food, health care. Katrina was a practice run for martial law. It was to take measure of how the people would resist. They did not resist, they laid down like lambs. I saw it all and I was not one of the locals kept in the dome. I was sleeping in a warm bed every night eating good food. This is why I don't believe the people will ever revolt no matter how much the government does to them. Americans will act like the jews in germany and never lift a hand in resistance.

There was a reason the local authorities didn't want any federal assistance during and after Katrina. All that federal money they had acccepted for disaster readiness was stolen by the politicians for personal use. The problem was they (Louisiana politicians) had signed legal papers stating the disaster plans were in place and they didn't want the feds noticing it was a lie.

Bush violated federal law when he finally ordered FEMA and the Navy to ignore the local authorities and start providing assistance.

if you want a sure fire 'F' why not COMPARE Bush's response to Katrina VS OBAMA'S response to the BP oil spill...like how Bush suspended the rule that prevents calling in outside help ( The unions 'urinated and ruminated on THAT one) while obama licked the union's boots and REFUSED help from countries that had the specific spill fighting equipment...BUT if you want to get an 'A' repeat after me...

"Bush had a machine that created Hurricane Katrina, and tried to cause a black genocide"

Wow....strong opinion. However, the essay is not a comparison on Obama's term VS Bush's term. It is simply on Hurricane Katrina. Thanks anyways, though.

The responsibility for having made a plan and being prepared for the flooding that was inevitable was the responsibility of the State and City governments of Louisianna nd New Orleans. That is where most of the Blame lies.. http://www.katrinadestruction...

    LISTEN TO ME!!!!!!!!

Your question :Do you think President Bush and the American Government did everything to prevent (and help afterwards) Hurricane Katrina!

    NO! AND IT SHOULDN'T HAVE!!!!!!!!!

    DO YOU KNOW WHY?

BECAUSE IT WAS THE STATE AND LOCAL governments that were responsible for the evacuations, NOT the FEDERAL government. Yes, the federal government stepped in ONCE the state and local government failed in 100% of their responsibilities!
