The only thing that all sides appear to be able agree upon in the up coming election is that they don't trust politicians and that they should be more accountable to the people who hand them the positions they enjoy so much.

Do you agree with this?

If so what do you believe can be done to ensure that they are working for the benefit of the people and the country and not for themselves and their friends.

No finger pointing here - let's try to keep this one apolitical :)

    Sure they should, if politicians were working in the private sector most of them would have been fired within the first six months. They work for themselves.

    If they don't do their jobs they need to be let go. If they don't vote on things important to their constituents they have no business claiming to represent them. If they steal they should be jailed and let go, if they lie let go and jail depending on what it was about. Anything they do they should be accountable for.

    The politician share part of the blame, but the people also shares the blame. We are the ones that vote these people into office and keep doing it. When the government starts take our freedom of choice away we are the ones that go along with them rather that speaking out. We let it happen!

    i'm reaching the point where i think a peaceful revolution may be the only solution. nonetheless, short of that... no pensions for political offices, campaign spending limits, not how much they can raise, how much they can spend, greatly reduced expense accounts, mandatory monthly press conferences for their home town media and term limits. then we'll break for lunch.

    Until the media in this country halts the bias and only reports news then there may be something that can be done. Until then you might as well try to pick up fire with your bare hand cause it would be easier than keeping a politician honest.

    For some reason we put politicians on a pedestal yet never hold them accountable for their actions.

    It is out own fault that they get away with what they do. And yet we are not disciplined enough not to do it again when we replace them.

    WE are to blame. The first thing every voter needs to do is check their elected officials voting record. You can't leave it up to the "press" to do it for you. You need to read EVERY bill that appears on your ballot and make sure you understand what it says. WE are the only ones that can do anything about it, and we only have our votes to act with.

    Stop the inside trading!! Members of the House & Senate receive information they use for inside trading. President Obama in his State of the Union Address called on both parties to do stop doing this....you could have heard a pin drop in the room. None of the politicians want to stop this activity yet it's exactly what Martha Stewart did that got her sent to prison.

    that's what a Free Press is for. only - - today's press are lapdogs who follow along and lick up whatever the politicians tell them. no - not all of them are - but far too many.

    WE need to hold the press accountable for the echo chamber they provide the politicos. then the press will hold them accountable.

    All I know is not vote for them but that doesn't work. They need to be removed at their first attempt to violate the constitution or their oath of office. And or locked up.
