All sports put children at risk. Hell just walking outside puts your children at risk.
This NERF world mentality that people have drives me crazy.
When I was young playgrounds were made of sharp corners and dangerous falls. Friends of mine broke their arms falling out of trees and off of bikes. We used to play games like 'car dodging' and 'bike dodgeball'. We used to find dangerous animals and poke them with sticks to see if they'd attack us. We'd get into rock wars. We'd stage mock wrestling matches then beat the crap out of each other. We'd play tackle football with no pads on concrete. Hell, my parents got mad if I wasn't out risking my health every day of my life.
We got bloody, bruised and battered. But we somehow survived. Today children are treated like porcelain dolls and never get to test their limitations or know the thrill of risk. I think extreme sports are the result of this. The only way they're allowed to risk injury is if they make it a damned sport instead of just another part of living life.
Childhood was my extreme sport. Thank goodness my parents allowed me to participate in it.
Do You Think Parents Should Let Their Children Participate in Extreme Sports?

Yes, as long as safety measures are implemented.

I grew up around two boys who from the age seven and eight (I think) did extreme BMX.
They are known as the Ives Brothers.
They are safe when they do what they do, I've watched them when I was little, their parents were always involved and made sure they didn't get hurt.
So, if they are safe and parents know the risks. Why not?
