Do you think Mitt Romney is the best qualified American to be the next President Of The United States?

Scalded Eagle 2012/10/20 19:10:51
I agree with a lot of my friends that think this election will be like the 1980 election.

My vote is with Romney. Yertle.turtle.1548 cites a failed news rag which claims that it is a fallacy to believe a businessman, i.e. not a lawyer, can fix our current economic woes. To her I say: Be careful in relying on facts spoon-fed to you. I suggest you dust off a history book and read it. The truth of the matter is that 21 U.S. Presidents were lawyers by occupation, and they presided over the most scandalous administrations, including Martin Van Buren, Millard Fillmore, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan, Richard Nixon, Bill Clinton, and Barach Obama., Only 15 of the 36 U.S. Presidents were farmers, businessmen, military officers, and teachers. They presided over some of the best and worst economic times in our history. Be careful before you malign the character and legacy of men you apparently know nothing about. Two of the 15 non-lawyers died shortly after taking office, and as a result left no legacy, good, bad or otherwise. Here is a short bio of 10 of the most outstanding Presidents this country has ever had, and not one of them had a law degree:

George Washington: One of the Founding Fathers of the United States, used the federal government to preserve liberty, promote commerce, and promote a spirit of American nationalism, and is ranked among the top three presidents...

George Washington: One of the Founding Fathers of the United States, used the federal government to preserve liberty, promote commerce, and promote a spirit of American nationalism, and is ranked among the top three presidents of the United States.

Ulysses S. Grant is remembered for his foreign policy and civil rights achievements, pushing through the Fifteenth Amendment, persecution of the Ku Klux Klan, and enforcement of voting rights.

"Teddy" Roosevelt won the Nobel Peace Prize for negotiating an end to the Russo-Japanese War. He has consistently been ranked by scholars as one of the greatest U.S. Presidents, having revived a declining presidency. Roosevelt coined the phrase "Square Deal" to describe his domestic agenda, he promoted the conservation movement. On the world stage, Roosevelt's policies were characterized by his slogan, "Speak softly and carry a big stick".

Warren Harding – His creation of the Budget Bureau was a major economic accomplishment that reformed and streamlined wasteful federal spending.

Herbert Hoover - When the Wall Street Crash of 1929 struck less than eight months after he took office, Hoover tried to combat the ensuing Great Depression with volunteer efforts, public works projects such as the Hoover Dam, tariffs such as the Smoot-Hawley Tariff, an increase in the top tax bracket from 25% to 63% and increases in corporate taxes. While these initiatives did not produce economic recovery during his term, they served as the groundwork for various policies incorporated in Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal.

Harry S. Truman - He gained national prominence as head of the wartime Truman Committee, which exposed waste, fraud and corruption in wartime contracts. He was the force behind the founding of the United Nations and the creation of NATO in 1949.

Dwight D. Eisenhower contributed to the end of McCarthyism, expanded Social Security and launched the Interstate Highway System. He sent federal troops to Little Rock, Arkansas to enforce federal court orders to desegregate public schools, and signed civil rights legislation in 1957 and 1960. In less than two years he implemented desegregation of the armed forces, and is ranked as one of the top ten U.S. Presidents.

John F. Kennedy is the only president to have won a Pulitzer Prize. He was an advocate for the Civil Rights Movement. One of his first presidential acts was to create the Peace Corp. The economy turned around and prospered during his administration, and one of the enduring legacies of his administration was the creation in 1961 of the Navy SEALs, and he continues to rank high in public opinion of U.S. Presidents.

Ronald Reagan - A conservative icon, he ranks highly in public opinion polls of U.S. Presidents and is credited for generating an ideological renaissance on the American political right. He is responsible for the decrease in nuclear arsenals and the removal of the Berlin Wall.

George Walker Bush - In addition to national security issues, Bush also promoted policies on the economy, health care, education, and social security reform. He signed into law broad tax cuts, the PATRIOT Act, the No Child Left Behind Act, and Medicare prescription drug benefits for seniors.

This election has been the biggest farce in the history of US politics.
We have the worst candidate running against the worst president.

If you don't realize what is going on, you aren't smart enough to be voting.

Romney is more honest and cares about Americans and our country. Obamass is in love with no one but himself, is incompetent in economics, and has been fulfilling his dream of destroying capitalism. Half of America is dying to live on the government teat for life and are willing to put Obammie the Commie back into office.

Romney/Ryan are our only hope to save the economic system that made America great.

Absolutely, Romney is the best choice. America needs a capitalist to create jobs not a Marxist to create welfare.

I think Romney will even beat Reagan's accomplishments.
