yes there should be more leave days and moe time they get to spend with their family, when your in the military you devote most life to the military to defend and fight for your country believe me i know, but i guess the miltary wants most of their soldiers to be prepared but there ae both downfalls and ups while you in, just know when you sign the contract ,you sign your life period.

Only a small percentage of those who serve in the military ever serve in combat zones or in harms' way. Most do what civilian counterparts do- they move papers from here to there, enter data into computers, do mechanical repairs to machinery, cook food and wash dishes, drive cars and trucks, attend training or educational classes, etc. How many "freebies" do you want to pile on these "warriors"? What do you want to give them?

    Any details or suggestions?

Likely no worse than working for a heartless corporation that would see you dead before giving you a day off or a fringe benefit. The military gets a lot of benefits, such as free medical and dental care, housing allowances or free room and board. Not many jobs in the private sector include these.

Nothing in this life is truly "free". We all work in some way for what we receive. All in the military have my respect and regards for what they receive. Then, when they leave, it is over, just like working for Yahoo or IBM.

I'm not really sure what you mean by "free pass." If you mean free education and healthcare, I would say that's ok as long as it's done voluntarily through some kind of charity, and not at taxpayers' expense.

but they don't. Veterans benefits are a sham. Americans don't care about veterans and history proves it.

They put thier life on the line for us. Ya it may be voluntary, but most of them go through hell. I know i couldnt do that and i would rather my taxmoney go to something like that than to people that dont do anything to deserve a free ride

I say no because that's not what the vast majority would want.

Those who have been injured should be afforded the best treatment possible no matter what the cost.

Those who feel they are 'owed' a free ride, probably joined for all the wrong reasons to begin with.

meant as in when they come home, they can spend their money and time as they want.

That's a nice thought but most of us don't put in a full 20 years and don't have some fat retirement to kick back on. Wounded usually get a partial disability but not enough to live on.
We come back from wherever and either go back to what we were doing before of pursue a new career that relates to specific training and trades that are also needed in the civilian world.

I know what an enlisted gets, and they should get much more. and I was talking as when they return home from a tour

It would be nice if more would give their service if only for a 4 year stint so the rest don't have to have to go back to back to back.

    But, we don't complain.
