Do you think i should report this nurse for being a bigot?

You!

I have had issues with this nurse time and time again. I'm back in hospital having another round of treatment and once again she is assigned to me.

She makes snarky comments about me being homosexual and how her faith is against it.

Should i report her for this?

No. I do not have much use for rightwingers (anarchists) myself. I was agreeing with you. They are just as bad as the leftwingers.

Thank you! I'm tired of both sides.

Theoretically: The United States is an airplane.

Do you focus all of the weight (politicians) on the right wing? Or the left wing? No, you balance it in the middle. The plane does not turn from it's path!

I agree. That is why the founders rejected both wings (tyranny and anarchy) and chose the balance of People's Law.

Report her for what exactly? For stating that your lifestyle is against her faith? It is against mine too. Should you report me to Sodahead?

....and why come here and ask such a stupid ass question? Do you not have a brain of your own, or are you just looking for the attention that you feel those who are "Treating" you are not giving you?

Are you an arrogant in your face egocentric homosexual looking for special attention...
Most nurses are too busy to engage in anything but treating patients

There are three sides to every story...yours, hers and the truth..
We've only heard your sketchy comments....
Not enough for me to condemn or condone anything!

Excuse me? No, i'm not an arrogant person at all. The reason she knows i'm gay is because she saw my husband holding my hand and it has on my next of kin and spouse "Mark". I have done nothing to receive this kind of torment.

Just asking...no offense! We both know arrogance happens...so it's a fair question.
I just don't know any nurses who have time to intimidate patients!
Is this a professional nurse RN etc. or are you dealing with an Aide...not everyone you call a nurse is a nurse? They are all required to wear badges with their name and status!!

If this nurse/aide is indeed tormenting you for no reason, why have you not addressed it with a supervisor, charge nurse social worker, director of nurses, ombudsman....all available in hospitals?

I don't understand the pity party but no action.

    Very unprofessional.

That is no different than someone making snarky comments about someones race. Even if you are against it you still have to be professional and do your job. If she is so religious, she should know that she must not judge others for what they do, that is only for her God to decide.

She can have her beliefs but as a professional she should not be going on about them. I bet she even signed some papers for her job that covers this behavior as not acceptable.

    A few question.

I am a Registered Nurse. My initial concern is how great a nurse she is and does her superior professional capability outweigh your having to deal with her anti homosexual zeal?

If you can deal with it, then just state your objection to her bigotry and that you will no longer tolerate it. Use this opportunity to share you thought on the matter in an intelligent conversation. If she continues, report her. At the same time, speak to her immediate supervisor and make it clear you will not allow her near you.

If she is treating him like this, then it is likely that she treats others similarly. As an RN, you would know that you are responsible for the well-being of your patients - and not just their physical well being. Their psychological/emotional well being is just as important. She might be a fantastic nurse in some ways, but if her personal views are, in any manner whatsoever, interfering with how she treats any patient, then it needs to be reported.

Absolutely.. SHE is a representative of a PROFESSION and if we don't insist on the highest standards of these Professions,,

If we don't demand that Professionals ACT like Professionals,, HISTORY shows that these things get worse and become widespread..

There is not a reason in the WORLD why YOU should be forced to put UP with this.. And considering that she has your health and wellbeing,, including your emotional and mental health,, in her hands,, you have EVERY right to expect and demand the she has your best INTERREST in her HEART..,

I agree with you, but it could be any personal or unsavory remarks about the patient, not just sexist, homophobic and racist ones, just any disparaging remarks that let you know the practitioner does not like you and may not treat you well, and that make a person uncomfortable. You made a great comment there. Very well done.

She is entitled to her opinion as we all are and we don't have to agree with your choice of lifestyle, but she is supposed to be a proffessional and should act like it. You have two options, report her to her place of employment and only effect her locally or report her to her state licensing board and put a mark on her permenant record. I'd go local, I'd hate for her to loose her license and means of making a living. Wait, you're in NZ, scratch the licensure stuff.

If you believe a caretaker's personal beliefs are affecting the care you receive then you should not hesitate to report it. If what you say is true then she is behaving in an extremely unprofessional (ntm unethical) manner!
