"Maggie Gallagher, co-author of “The Case for Marriage,” recently testified in front of the Senate that gay marriage activists are misrepresenting the impact gay marriage will have.

“Is this a small add-on that will only affect a small number of children living with same-sex couples? Or will changing the legal definition of marriage change the way marriage will mean to everyone?” she asked. “I think the same-sex marriage advocates are not being clear or honest about what a big change this will be. We are all going to have to be re-educated.”

Gallagher claims that with the legal onset of gay marriage, governments will be in the position of forcing onto citizens a belief system that equates homosexuality with heterosexuality — through public schools, taxpayer-funded programs like charities and non-profits, workplaces and even faith-based organizations that receive public dollars."

I see nothing wrong with it. It is only two people who want to show their love for each other. Which is also the same reason why a man and woman get married. Plus half the men and women who get married end up divorced. Well maybe not half, but a lot of them do get divorced

WOW. Do you believe everything you read? I happen to be gay, and I'm fairly certain I am NOT trying to take the rights of anyone, let alone working to "trump" the rights of any group, especially people of faith. I have a lot respect for religion and those who follow. I only wish that respect would be reciprocated. It's about equality, not power.

We are really making a bigger deal of this than should be made. In Bible terms, divorce is WAYYYYY worse,k and when it went through the argument was that consenting adults should have the right to decide whom they should be or should not be married to.

As a Muslim, I cannot approve of homosexuality, it is a sin. Just as I cannot say it is okay to eat pork or consume alcohol, also sinful behaviors. But since there are homosexuals in our society, I would prefer to promote stable relationships to promiscuity, so if people are homosexual, I wish they would get married and be faithful, monogamous partners. Marriage should help promote stability and respectability, especially important if they adopt or have children. Also, help stop spreading disease. (Even a small reduction in the incidence of HIV-AIDS would save an awful lot of public health / tax dollars.) But the same applies equally to straight people, heterosexual marriage also needs to be exclusive and faithful. One does not need to condone homosexuality to support the right of gays to marry, it is simply a matter of practical self-interest.

Any two human beings, regardless of sex should be fully able to get married if they are in love and want to do so. Otherwise it is hateful and discrimination. The separation of Church and State should be respected. I must add that an amendment to stop some ill minded person from wanting to marry an animal/pet or inanimate object should indeed be stopped in the same legislation to avoid abuse of process.

God forbid,.we should get another proposition to ban atheists and agnostics marriage. They don't even believe in God. For that matter, we should also ban gentile/non-gentile marriage. Doesn't the bible say something about that? Its nasty to even think about non-kosher sex!
