Do you think assault weapons should be banned?

In my native California, each time there is an election, there are anywhere from 10 to 50 decisions for the average voter to make. They range all the way from choosing the President to the Governor to the various representatives to state and local initiatives and referendums. Even judges are elected.

This year, there are two elections - the primary and the main one in November. In 2010 there were also two elections, and in 2014 there will also be two elections. And from time to time there are special elections in between these. So, U.S. voters go to the polls *at least* once a year, which is far more than in most other countries.

"The government" in the U.S. at its various levels from federal to state to local, is indeed the people. Of course, that is only to the extent that the people really care to go to vote on election day.

The only government I know of right now that is truly hostile to its citizens is Syria.

Yes but not pistols, or rifles, or shot guns, now the military and the police along with anyother organization that PROTECTS NOT HARMS AMERICA, people deserve to be safe and feel protected, not scared and harassed. What is an assault weapon? If you give up the so called assault weapons, then the left Constitution haters will come after semi-automatic weapons and handguns next. This is about disarming the American people one weapon at a time and they won't stop until only they and the criminals have guns. That was redundant, wasn't it?!

It sounds at first lie it would be a good idea, but if you think about it, banning them isn't going to stop stupid people from getting them anyways. So I don't see banning them as being a very long term solution for lowering crime rates.

ALL gun laws are Unconstitutional. Period. There is no way around the 2nd Amendment.
I tell everyone to break out a dictionary and learn what the word "infringed" means. The founders were EXPLICIT in what they meant. Read their writings.
