Do you think America has moved closer to racial equality in the past 25 years?

you hear people calling eachother, "cr*cker, and N***a, and De**o, and all this, its like STOP. YOUR SKIN COLOR isnt what you should judge someone on. judge whats in their heart. and stop blaming them, you've seen just as many people do the same thing as a different race has. so SHUSH.

I say no because I assert that racial equality always has and always will exist. Color is an illusion, and when people say "racial equality," they usually mean which group of which kind of color people control how much wealth. Each man is always equal to each other man, regardless of color, riches, or whether or not people understand and respect that.

Where I live, I think most people aren't racist. I have family members who are white and family members who are black, and some who are half and half, and very rarely do we see people staring or making comments when we all go out to dinner in our area. My nephew is black and I don't think he's normally discriminated against - but maybe that's because he's very intelligent and a musical prodigy - I don't know. Other areas of my state, not so far away, people are definitely racist rednecks. A former friend of mine - someone whom I thought was a sensible person - admitted that she would never vote for a black person for President - no matter they were. That's just wrong, and racism like that can't be tolerated. Unfortunately, I think many people (and not just white people) still need to learn to ignore color and look at every person as an individual.

I'd think so, but I have no data on which to base a firm opinion. If not, it's certainly much more subtle than 25 years ago.

we cling to the terms and titles that categorize us for when we feel appropriate to use name calling to our benefit. A serious looking needs to be done about the classification of "minority" and "racist" and who is actually spewing out the word and for what purpose. What ill-intention is this description being used? We are who and what we believe we are, we all have the DNA of the Almighty, we all bleed red. I once read something in the line of, "...until there's a mudrace..." and this was said by a man more than 100 years ago. What the reference is about is, when we become multicultural to the point where we cannot claim a supremacy or dominance in race or creed, maybe then we can move towards equality. The truth, the message is honestly Love and Forgive. Each and every one of us needs to have the Want To. These loving words from my Father.

Yes, this question is good... the awnsers are loaded....

    I'll say this:
In the past 25 years, from what I know, there are less race related crimes, and more hate related crimes, wether those are slightly related to race, I do not know...

    So.. I have to say
I think things have gotten better, as they have in the past 70 years all together... so..inevitably... I think that soon enough, with good hopes... that racism can be irradicated on earth.. and moved to say? Us having a problem with the ways of an extraterrestial form.. sort of replacing our "racism"... that would be great....

I'm sure that just made someone think I'm fucking bonkers...

    yep, I'm glad you agree.

This is more important than peopl hating people, its about people, hating external life..

such a small issue, racism... but I feel that it is wrong.

I think in my age group yes but the kids are gettin worse. MY friend Miss Neicey helped me raise my kids while ai worked so I DONT THINK MY KIDS EVER SAW COLOR.We brought our kids up together but my son says only a few blacks will even talk to him at school. And on the other side he told me the reble flag has been brought out and we live in the North so its not about southern pride.

I think that we have made some strides, but in reality; situations like the Imus thing, muslums, the use of terms like whitey, cracker, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and the N word makes you think that all strides made are going down the toilet. All these things are just irritants for race relations.

yes, we've ended slavery and such, but there is a lot of discimination against muslims right now because of the war. as many laws as we would like to make, and as many things as we would like to do to end discrimination and prejudice, people are always going to be uncomfortable around things that are different from them. it seems like it just always moves on to another race/religion. the only difference really is just laws that keep us from doing slavery and things like that. besides that, things aren't much better.

nope, look at the schools, there desegregated, and look at naturally how people run around, the whites with the whites, the blacks with the blacks and soforth.
equal oppertunity has demolished our labor force. i believe that you should always hire the best , most qualified applicant nomatter what color they are.
and as long as you have racebaiters like the rev al. and jesse jackson , america will never be a step closer to racial equality because those 2 morons jump at every oppertunity to to keep the masses in conflict. thats how the keep in the public eye and how they make there money.

Almost every race is considered equal in this country...
    But...

    It's really rude.
To me, everybody is created equal.

It definly has changed - years ago blacks didn't had any rights but then again they are still given less rights then whites. Look how many black innocent man who have been jailed for a crime they didn't commit are being freed after dna proves that they are innocent.

And then well if you really look at the whole picture now you have gay's, transgender people who are fighting for their right .....we keep on saying we are all equal but then we refuse the right to marrigae to gay's, the police still beats african american and well then now we are also against immigrants,,,,,it is still a long way to walk to a place where we are all one. But I do have to say some things changed like more women are in higher position of big companys'...if you look at hollywood, how many women are studio bosses and in other higher position. Years ago this would have been imposibble,.

I think we have. The only thing about this so called racial equality is if people like Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton and others would shut their garbage spewing mouths and work for everyone instead of THEIR OWN MONEY REASONS in the way of greed. We will not have true equality until people like that are gone or not sponsored at all. THANK YOU!!

As a black women I applaud you! You hit the nail right on the head! The racist, race-baiting, hate-mongering bastards are destroying my people with their "cult of victimization" mentality that they are instilling in my people! They need to die! If we had the Black Surpremist, Islamofacist terroist Farrakan and the "victims" Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson as our "leaders" during slavery we would still be on the plantation! These people feed on fear, hatred and confusion! We shouldn't listen to them. You know something, I lose more black friends when I try to tell them how detrimental these "false prophets" are. It is hard to find black people who will even say one word against them! Unfortunately, I find it hard to get along with my own people because I have zero tolerance for the views of most of them. I believe in personal responsibilty and accepting responsibilty for your own actions. They call me a "race-traitor" because I don't speak PC (political correctness) and they don't like it. I don't want to be around "victims" and black racists. It's counterproductive and downright depressing! Oh well, but that's ok I have some truly strong beautiful vanilla soul sisters in my life who are my best friends. I feel blessed and happy! Thanks for letting me vent! God Bless!
