Do you support PLANNED PARENTHOOD??!!

I understand your position... but the rape/incest abortion is only about 1-2% of all abortions. Most use abortion as a means of birth control...as they didn't plan ahead...or just say NO!!

I support the low income women that need healthcare provided by planned parenthood...

There is absolutely NO reason to oppose them and MANY reasons to support, unless you hate the welbeing of fellow Americans--they are the healthcare provider for thousands and the ONLY available one for many of them. Why oppose them and condemn all of those people to less healthcare?

Planned Parenthood does much for women's health - particularly low-income women who would otherwise be unable to get the testing and care that most medical care professional recommend for ALL WOMEN - not just those with money. You don't have to support abortion to support Planned Parenthood. The idea that all they are is government paid abortion centers is absurd and ignorant.

At the end of the day they provide care and support to poorer Americans forsaken by our "health" system. Often they are the only support many women have.

Many will reference Margret Sanger's eugenic beliefs, that was then and not now. Henry Ford was once awarded the Iron Cross from Hitler's Germany for his advocacy against the Jews, yet many Americans still buy Fords.

You can only judge the organization for what it does. It provides for the needs that people have, and have no where else to go, it has saved countless lives through preventive screening, and it has been the one organization that has stood up for a woman's right to self determination despite the shouts of the religious fundamentalist and authoritarians to subjugate her and her life.

They pretend to care about women when in fact they have a eugenics agenda.

It is not my place to tell someone they should not get a abortion just because I do not believe it is right , but it is my place to not support Planned Parenthood with my tax dollars.

Most parents of children that go to religious schools, at least locally, pay twice for their child's education. They pay the religious school and they pay taxes to support the public schools their children aren't attending.

While were at it, many people pay for their children to go to private schools because the public schools their tax dollars are funding are crap in education and put their child's safety imperil. I know a nurse and many of the nurses she works with are working just to be able to pay their child's tuition for the private or religious their child attends.

I object to any birth control and contraception issued through Planned Parenthood on moral grounds. I do firmly believe in aspirin held tightly between the knees and a commitment of people to stop using sex as a recreational sport.

Well, I'm from OZ ... tax does pay for things here that it doesn't in the States.
But from our point, to answer your Q: Sure, we are doing it 'tough' - real tough, even ... but for reasons largely beyond our own doing ... but very little govt assistance these days: it has taken time to get into this position :)

That's exactly right. We had a fellow who was newly elected and went to his first meeting in DC. The first comment out of the mouth of the "leader" was, "This is how we do things around here." That was disheartening to hear. It's all about playing ball no matter where you are, I guess.

Just saying, but birth control isnt just used for preventing babies. It used as a regulatory thing too.

It shouldn't even be called Planned Parenthood. It should be called Planned Abortion. If the women were actually planning for parenthood, they wouldn't be getting an abortion.

Actually, I went to Planned Parenthood when my husband and I were struggling financially to help keep on top of my reproductive health for when we were finally ready to start a family. And it's a good thing - the records of my paps during that time frame have helped a lot with talking to doctors about our current fertility issues. Planned Parenthood isn't only about abortions, those are just the easiest target for people hoping to cut spending to an organization that means nothing to them. Disagree with abortion, I know I do - but know that they've helped more women than they've killed babies.
