I'm all for reducing waste, but I think zero waste is an unattainable goal, and will be too expensive to achieve. And it does have a touch of Agenda 21 to it.

Beware of plans that incorporate the word sustainability. This is all part of the UN Agenda 21 program. Do the research on this.

What are they going to do to make this happen? Get rid of all the illegals, welfare recipients, long term unemployed and the drug dealers? They do that and no much is left to live in LA.

Are they throwing out all the illegal’s? Seriously though, LA has a Billion+ deficit, the only plan they have is to raise taxes, and this is the kind of crap they propose? This is why Progressivism is a disease!

    Why NOT Sydney? . . . And that's in Australia . . . It's a Question to do with Los Angeles; and their attempt at becoming "Zero Waste" . . . It's just NOT likely . . . BTW, the word used here "wrong" is somewhat confusing . . . ? ? ?

Absolutely I support it. Why would anyone not? Greed, I suppose.

"SWIRP will outline the City’s objectives to provide sustainability, resource conservation, source reduction, recycling, renewable energy, maximum material recovery, public health and environmental protection for solid waste management planning through 2030 — leading Los Angeles towards being a 'zero waste' city."

What are they planning on doing with all the waste? This plan sounds like it is part of Agenda 21. Be careful what you wish for.

They're still exploring all the means of achieving it. Follow the link I provided for details.

    What's "agenda 21"?

Check this video out, and then read directly from the U.N. Some of it might actually seem like a good idea to some, but in reality... well I guess you need to form your own opinion.

As long as the state of California has such a large Mexican population it can never become a zero waste city. Have you ever been to mexico? Filthy dirty cities and towns.

LA and California seem to be leading the country when it comes to wanting a clean environment and actually are doing something about it.They have the know how and the drive to plan for the city to conserve, recycle and make LA a clean city for future generations.California is a state that is looking to the future and should be commended for it.

I guess that would mean that they would have to get rid of all their welfare recipients , illegals, government workers, Hollywood liberals and unions. How about doing it for the whole state or the whole country. If it was done for the country, we could get rid f those government fiscal anchors around our necks.

Sure, more regulation is the key to LA's problems. California is the poster child for what is wrong with liberalism and all their really "good ideas"!

They don't make movies in LA or even in California for that matter anymore. They make them in other states and other countries. Too much regulation, taxes and worker's comp. Besides, they are moving to excreting their movies by digital transmission.

If it's their money operating on their schedule for their reasons in their city, who the heck is anyone outside L.A. to tell them not to? Of course I support their right to make decisions for themselves. Even if they weren't already a city of adults, we would still have to treat them like adults in order to let the learn.

I also think it's a good general principle to reduce the amount of sewage, trash, etc., that ends up in the water from which we drink and eat fish... because I personally would really rather not be literally eating or drinking the litterbox feces from anyone else's pets...
