Do you support freedom of speech for citizens or for corporations?

bob 2012/06/18 17:11:37
I support freedom of speech for citizens, not corporations
I support freedom of speech for corporations, not citizens
Political corporations are for cowards who do not wish to associate their name with a political ad
corporations are people too and should have all the rights and responsibilities as other citizens
Political corporations makes it easy for foreign interests to have a say in our elections

Can corporations get pregnant and have abortions? Just female corporations? Can corporations dance and make love? Do corporations star in Porn Movies. Can they talk without people? Can a gay man marry a female company? Do corporations fight wars on the front line. I say we start making corporations fight on the front lines.
Send them to the middle east to fight the wars. Do corporations eat people sandwiches?

Corporations are made up of people, there is no difference so far as speech is concerned. It's the same principle as Unions operate under. If Corporations have no freedom of speech then neither should Unions.

Without people there would be no corporations. Freedom of speech is one thing but carrying the dishonest actions behind the speech is another.

Funny thing is libtards want to pretend UNIONS are not the same as private citizen groups (Citizens united) so they want a double standard -

This shouldn't be an either/or question. Without people, corporations would not exist. Corporations should have the rights, and also the responsibilies as anyone else. Cowards hide behind any label. One of the biggest political corporate industry is the news media. They certainly DO try to influence elections.

Ray correctly pointed out that corporations pay taxes, get permits, just like citizens. A corporation is a citizen in that regard. I would just as soon see all businesses, churches, schools, etc. OUT of politics and I think lobbyists are about the same level as trial lawyers. It's a slippery slope if you start exempting, who's next and where does it go from there? Unions?

The First grants freedom of speech to citizens of the US, it says nothing about corporations, a corporation is not a citizen.

A corporation is an inanimate object that cannot speak. It is PEOPLE that produce the ads and speak the words you hear. They are the ones that have the constitutional right to freedom of speech. That the speech is funded by a corporation or another type of corporation called a labor union doesn't change that.
  • Tom none 2012/06/18 18:29:29

What do you think a corporation is made up of?
    It's employees & stockholders.
    Using a more general term...PEOPLE.
