bob 2012/06/18 17:11:37
I support freedom of speech for citizens, not corporations
I support freedom of speech for corporations, not citizens
Political corporations are for cowards who do not wish to associate their name with a political ad
corporations are people too and should have all the rights and responsibilities as other citizens
Political corporations makes it easy for foreign interests to have a say in our elections

A corporation is not a person but I do believe that all individuals within a corporation should have the right to freedom of speech.

Our founding documents declare that PEOPLE are endowed with rights by their creator. God didn't create corporations. Corporations have only those rights that we allow them to have.

Might be able to stand corporations being treated legally as a person if they also had all the legal responsibilities for their actions, like we do.

Since the Supreme Court declared that corporations are "people" just like you and me, I guess they are entitled to all the things that human "people" are entitled to, such as protection by the Constitution and Bill of Rights, Social Security and Medicare benefits, Second Amendment "rights", and admission to public education. How could we dare deny one "person" what is given to another? The ACLU will now begin defend these "rights" of these "persons" and a whole new chapter in the annals of American Law will need to be written.

That thieving A**H*** "banker" at Well Fargo has been trying for a decade to force me to buy some "Asset Backed Securities". Now, he can carry a pistol and force me to buy these worthless "investments". I will move my account tomorrow to a local Credit Union which, I think, are not yet "persons".

Corporations are made up of people who own it and hold stock in it, and those people should have the right to use that corporation's resources, to say whatever the stockholders and owners of that corporation want to collectively say.

So the corporation can literally buy elections, since corporations aren't bound by the same laws that citizens are.

A corporation cannot "buy" an election, it can only buy advertisement for, and contribute to the campaign of, candidates, as can any organized group of like minded citizens. The constitution offers no protection for mindless drones who are stupid enough to believe the ads of those corporations or groups, or the campaigns they support.

It looks as if votes don't count (or at least aren't being counted accurately) in this election in far too many instances.

We have the right as American citizens to have freedom of speech and unfortunately it goes for corporations as well as citizens. We just have to watch how we use that freedom with out persecuting or slandering someone or another entity.

I don't like this question for two reasons:
    1) I have mix views on this issue and none of the choices offered to me allowed me to express my views.
    2) I am NOT in the habit of questioning the rulings of the US Supreme Court on any one particular case. And as everyone should know the US Supreme Court has already RULED on this issue and since I am law biding person I am not going to challange thier verdict.

I don't see Corporations as "people" per say, even though they are made up of people pooling resources to increase revenue and reduce risk.

But I think that if you are going to tax them, they should be able to voice opposition, as a unit.
