here's the truth, Israel knows the ends justify the means. Yes Israel does some shady things and we should let them stand on their own but we also need to support them because even though you might not agree with them you have to admit the people who hate them are worse.

As for Mubarak, he was a key figure in the coalition in the war on terror and we were never on better terms with Egypt than when Mubarak was in power. He also had been one of Israel's greatest friends making peace with Israel even after past conflicts between Egypt and Israel. He stopped being useful when the people were turning against him and there was no way to save his regime so we didn't intervene and hoped that Egypt would elect someone we could work with. Unfortunately they didn't and we should consider keeping both eyes on Egypt in case they do something stupid. The reason we assassinated Iran's leader in 1953 was in response to the assassination of our friend in the region in 1951. Israel has been a great friend to the united states. We were one of the first countries to support them and ever since they never did anything to intentionally threaten us and their government is like most in Europe and North America has a democratically elected government and the best standard of living of any country in the region. They are socially more progressive than any other country in the region is. We have a lot more to lose by abandoning Israel then we do staying their friends.

My country was attacked by Islamic radicals that treat women like garbage and openly persecute Atheists and anyone who considers themselves intellectuals. The whole culture is antithetical to liberty, democracy, free thought, and equality. More importantly they want to destroy what we are and force us to yield to Islam. My country can't afford to continue the fight but we can empower our ally Israel to take our place in the fight. You want to know what I think my country should do? Negotiate a military alliance between Israel, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Lebanon, and India to police the entire Middle East and give them the job to eliminate the enemies of the civilized world in the region on our behalf and in exchange we would give these countries military equipment including nuclear weapons to use as they feel necessary. Because historically speaking, banning a weapon just means allowing your enemies to hit you with it. For instance in Europe the pope banned the crossbow from military use. How that went over was that the countries that listened to the pope were militarily weaker because they did not use the crossbow while those that didn't care freely used it. It is my belief that we would be safer if every civilized country had access to nuclear weapons because it would mean that in the case of extreme emergency where a civilized country fights an insurgency the best way to address an insurgency in a third world country is with a nuclear weapon. That's what we learned in WW2. If your fighting an enemy that isn't afraid of death nuclear weapons are the best option to break their momentum and drive the opposition into desperation.

Are men and women treated like equals? 3.) Does the government help take care of the poor? 4.) Does the government help take care of the environment? 5.) Are all people of all ethnicity treated as equals under the law? 6.) Are people of all sexual orientations equally protected under the law? 7.) Does the country provide education for all people in the country? This is my standard of civilization, any civilization or country that doesn't meet these basic standards is uncivilized.
