No, only fools and government can do that. The most important thing is who is responsible for the problems that ensue. If an individual makes a bad choice they should have to live with it, not me. When government does it we all get equally screwed.

When I was a young Navy wife alone with children on the West coast my husband deployed. I knew nothing about household budgets and for some reason I always found myself ten dollars short. My dear neighbor would lend me the ten, Iwould pay her on payday and the cycle would start again. I finally got a handle on things and I stopped. We have been good friends for many years. I am now back at budget handling. I'm doing much better these days.

But government sure is the problem. This is the 4th year the economy has been in the tank for the R&D;, quality control, failure analysis, and materials and product processing improvement work that my laboratory handles for American businesses. Obama has frightened them into holding onto every dollar they can and they are forfeiting some of their innovations and their future because of it. This means slower growth for the American economy for years to come.

That is a fiscally immature way to live. I live within my means, not my dreams.

I wish I could, but my neighbors are fiscally responsible just like me. I guess I'll have to move closer to LA to find the wealthy that are truly ignorant.

We don't spend every last dime nor do we borrow from neighbors.

It is seldom though that the first day of the month arrives and we have as much as $20.00 remaining in the checking account.

It is getting better though now that I'm working "part time" at five jobs, four similar for different areas and one different from the others. We have two "closed" credit cards which we are slowly paying off but that 22% interest is a killer. When we have those items paid off to a zero balance we will be better off. A major car breakdown and the washing machine wearing out two months later does not help.

It doesn't matter how much I earn though. I could have a check in my mailbox from one job for $2,000 on Monday morning and can bet that my wife will have it all spent by Tuesday afternoon.

One of my jobs is Security Officer. As long as it is a calm night I sometimes catch his show on the radio. On a wilder night not so much.

I also serve in another capacity where I have opportunity to watch this program with teenagers and enjoy it there as well. I'm going to show this to her.

    Thank You 56 Lady.

Spending is a pathology, a bona fide addiction. One who has become overly materialistic can feel that buying yet another "thing" will bring happiness (or just the next rush). Congress is not immune to this. They are addicted to power and their sense of self importance, expressed mainly by spending ever more as extensions of their power and the self-satisfied feeling of parental largess.

We live pay check to pay check just like mostly everyone else but we don't have to borrow money from anyone. We make it last until our next payday. If we don't need it we don't buy it. It's as simple as that.

I have never even considered looking to someone else to prop me up financially or otherwise and that includes the government, but I understand that some do struggle and that has had me asking for over 40 years~~~~~

    Why is overtime taxed?

If someone on an hourly wage finds it necessary to work beyond the 40 hour work week to make ends meet, I don't think that money should be taxed. (help them, don't punish them)
