Do you remember K-mart? The Blue Light special???

I was just at K-Mart today, I could smell the popcorn popping.

We still have 2 K-Marts in my county...I am pretty sure they have the blue light specials.

Oh I remember the days when the light would start rotating on the ceiling in the area and you had so many minutes to grab the bargain. It was something that livened up a dull shopping experience.

K-Mart is actually one of the milestones of my life.

I remember the grand opening of the one in our town. I was in the 5th grade, and I had never seen such an awesome place. I can even remember they were selling bags of peanuts that day over by the photography aisle. (you know, where you dropped off your 126 film cartridge, and waited a week or so to see your prints? That usually sucked?) There were tickets at the bottom of some of the bags of peanuts, and they were holding drawings for prizes every so often. It was like being at he fair that night.

Last year they closed the very same K-Mart. It had changed a lot over the years, but I still liked to shop there. As luck would have it, there is still one open, and it isn't all that far so I still get to shop @ K-Mart.

And they do have Blue-Light Specials."Attention K-Mart Shoppers...."

I used to work at one. Until Hurricane Katrina blew it away.

Here's a little true story about Kmart.

I was at Kmart one day and looked across the store at the small cafe in the store. The cafe was called THE EATERY. As I looked over the display in between me and the EATERY I saw the sign FATFRY. The bottom part of the sign EATERY was cut off by display. How perfect FATFRY.

True story.

Don't get me wrong. Lots of memorys At Kmart and the EATERY.

Yep those were the good old days . . . Then Jimmy Carter became President. Economy took a nosedive, inflation went through the roof, we lost our jobs. Looks like we may be in for that again with Carter 2.

I am the unofficial queen of Kmart. i hate walmart, but something about Kmart makes me feel relaxed. Ours still has blue light specials. I DO miss the roasted nuts concession, my dad used to buy me red pistachios everytime we went there. Miss that.

Yeah, I miss my local K-Mart that got forced out when fuckin' walmart moved here. Now I gotta drive to the next city over from where I live to shop at K-Mart. But it's not nearly as nice as the local one that we had.

eh no... I do remember eating at the Target food stand when I was little though... I loved their Super Pretzels... I thought they were something really special.



They're not that good now that I think about it... but we didn't have any of those gourmet pretzel stands back then, like they do now. Now I'm really craving Wetzel's Pretzels, I wish there was a location close to where I live.

We didn't have a K-mart close enough for me to know what was in them. I do remember blue-light specials from the few times I was in one in the 70s. But I know the drug stores has counters where you could get something to eat (before food courts)

That was a LONG time ago! They use to play the blue song and have a blue strobe light going off! It was bad!

We have two lmarts, 2 walmarts, one target in my town. I like Lmart best and since they partnered with sears, the clothes are getting better.

Yeah. You could get a real bargin. Maybe if kmart brought them back the stores would do beter. I rember that they were the first place to sell subs in Nashville long before Subway was even hear of.

I remember K-Mart. My ex-wife was a blue light special. I don't shop there anymore.

I remember when I was a kid they had the blue lights go off when there was a sale and they used to give out free cookies. We have one here but there is no cafe and no blue lights

There is only one Super K Mart here in Raleigh. All the others have closed. Kind of like Rose's they all closed too. D o you remember Rose's?

Sure do! We used to shop there a lot. We still have a Kmart where I live and I have even had the opportunity to take advantage of a couple of their blue light specials. I just dont go there real often. Of all the dumb things that our city did, at one intersection is Target, Shopko, Kmart and Walmart - all kitty corner from each other.

omg i remember the pharmacy and the people there were so nice! and i love how people are actin like layaway is this new cool thing when my mom used to put christmas toys on layaway when i was little.

We still have k-marts here. They are all run down and sad looking. They even still have the blue light special sometimes.

I worked at Woolworths in high school therefore I never much liked Kmart, besides most stuff sold there came from Japan.

i have a k-mart like 15 minutes away from my house...we go there ever now and then...kmart rules! :D i found this hoodie there that has built in headphones and they're machine washable!!!!
