Other nations hate Americans because they want what we have but are not willing to do the hard work and make the difficult decisions required to attain our achievements.

Achievements? America has only taken advantage of slavery and war to get ahead. We never had a winning formula. If you ever looked at the history of our country, for the past 150 years, since slavery ended, the only reason we had a strong economy was because of WWI and WWII. The Europeans and Japan destroyed everything. We had to produce basically everything for the entire free world for like 40 years. They finally rebuilt their countries and now that things are back to "normal" its starting to show how weak our country really is. That's why the Euro and Pound are stronger than the dollar, because our economy was built on slavery, war, and credit. European countries are able to strive without these things, which in turn gives them a more stable foundation and it's why their markets are turning around much faster than the US's. I love my country but I'm not going to lie to myself about the reason we're in this mess. It's much deeper than Obama, Bush, Regan, etc, it goes back farther than that.

If you doubt what I said, go back and read about what got us out of the great depression...

Once again, and I observe this as an independent who voted for....HIMSELF(in the write in box for the illiterate out there) that I voted for Bush the first time, but he lost in the second round because he did not pound through Congress reduction of the size of the federal government. He filed this country in doing that. Worse, he made the idea of the likes of a Barak Obama seem even appealing to a few simple minded troglodytes out there. For voting for Bush's corporate bailout package though, both Mr. Obama and Mr. Mc Cain showed phenomenal stupidity at best .............and heartless treason at worst. Can them both.
