Do you need extra filing time?

Put down those calculators and step away from the kitchen table, for now at least, because tax season will start a little later this year.

The Internal Revenue Service said it would start processing individual tax returns on Jan. 30, eight days later than it had planned, because of the various changes to tax laws made in the fiscal cliff deal.

Unfortunately for procrastinators, Washington's political dysfunction won't delay the coming of the tax man -- April 15 still is the deadline to file.

    I don't need the extra time, but I'm a procrastinator, so I often take all the time I can before filing

    My taxes were finished and submitted last Sunday. I wish they hadn't extended the filing date out to the 30th, because I'd love to have my refund now!

    Really, even the most complex personal tax returns don't take more than a WEEK at most to complete. People are just lazy

    My only income is my paycheck and I take standard deduction, so I can file as soon as they let me. I need the refund.

    Because my tax preparer (yes, everyone needs one, even my friend the CPA uses one because of the unfathomable rules) is now burdened with more tax laws to file all their other clients' returns.

    NOPE don't need extra time to file. I always pay just a little and as a result I always wait until April 15th to part with the rest of what owe. Usually less than $500 dollars additional BUT IT HAS BEEN IN MY POCKET not the Governments.

    Already there is talk in the foreign exchange market of reasonable sellers of euros against the greenback in both the $1.3290-00 and $1.3320-40 areas. Euro demand was triggered by Draghi's assertion that as the ECB's decision to leave its benchmark rate unchanged was unanimous "it implies there was no request to have a rate cut". While that may underpin the euro temporarily, it may not last because it is hard to see how the single currency can hold its value for any period of time while very large numbers of working-age people in thezone periphery remain unemployed. Tuesday's Eurostat data showed a jobless rate for the euro zone of 11.8 percent in November, but within that, Spanish unemployment is some 25 percent. Of course,Germanydoes not need any ECB benchmark interest rate cut with its 2.1 percent inflation above the ECB's 2 percent euro zone target, but a jobless rate of 6.9 percent, only just above the lowest level seen in the post-reunification era. Perhaps that explains the ECB's emphasis on the continued use of non-standard measures, possibly seeing those as a better way to target specific areas of the euro zone. An accountant prepares my taxes.

    All information such as receipts is stored and organized, so when tax time I comes it is all ready for the accountant to pick up.

    Unfortunately, my taxes have gone up considerably.

    Eliminate the federal income tax.
    Eliminate the IRS.
    Make April 15 just another Spring day.
    Pass H.R. 25.

    Tax Time

    Finally received my tax return for 2011 back from the IRS. It puzzles me!!!
    They are questioning how many dependents I claimed.
    I guess it was because of my response to the question:
    "List all dependents."
    I replied: 12 million illegal immigrants;
    3 million crack heads;
    42 million people on food stamps,
    2 million people in over 243 prisons; and
    535 persons in the U.S. House and Senate, plus
    1 useless President.
    Evidently, this was NOT an acceptable answer.
    I KEEP ASKING MYSELF, WHO DID I MISS?

    Since I'm employed in the Obama world and make more than 40k per year I have to answer "yes". It would be nice to have extra time to come up with extra money to send to the IRS so others can still get their check on time.
