You've got John 3:16 and then there is scripture that that makes me think I'm not good enough to go. That God will send me to hell.

It is impossible to be perfect even almost perfect would be very hard. God said that he came to save us with and from our sins.
In Romans 3:23 he said that God demonstrated his love for us, and that while we were STILL sinners.....Christ died for us. Meaning that even though we sin....he still saved us. I've been saved for about 8 years.....and I sin everyday....I try not to but because all humans are born with a sin nature, I do.
John 3:16 is a great verse...it stats that God sent his only son to save us from our sins, that even though we sin he still loves us, and died so that we didn't have to go to hell.
Doing good works has nothing todo with going to heaven. Yes, we should do good stuff but we don't have to to get to heaven. All you have to do to get to heaven is....Admit that your a sinner....that Jesus died because he loves you and he doesn't want you to have to go to hell. Believe that he died for you....really believe, not just "I think he could have....he did!" and Confess....confess to Him that you area sinner, pray and tell him that you need him to come into your life and save you. Once you do that....your saved....it's just that easy. God isn't trying to confuse us, he doesn't have a tricky method....just pray...talk to him.....tell him you love him.....he loves you. En...

Jerry it doesn't take works to get to heaven....your not perfect and neither am I....and God still loves me. :o) Here is a link that you can go to to reaffirm all of this.
God loves you just how you are....sin and all, when you accept him into you r heart and your life, he will take away sin, when you sin he will see it but once you ask foro forgivness...it's like it never even happend....whatever happened in you past won't exsist....God only cares about your future.

There is only one way to Heaven and that is through Christ! If you have accepted him as your Lord and Savior then you have nothing to worry about! He forgives us of our sins, all we have to do is ask :)

Hey Jerry, Put this in the back of your head. When Jesus was crucified he promised a thief that they would be together in heaven that same day. The thief had acknowledge him and then asked for special consideration. That was the whole enchilada. It happened in the closing few hours of the thief's life before he could do anything to prove himself. - It is just that personal and just that certain, Jerry! - God bless you. M in AZ

There was only one perfect man. He was Jesus Christ. All others have sinned and "come short of the glory of God.

Salvation is the result of accepting Jesus Christ... accepting what He did on the cross as payment for your sins. He took our place in spite of our sins. Our salvation is a free gift.

Romans 3:23 says "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
Romans 5:8 says "but God commendeth His love toward us,in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" There was only one perfect person in this world and that was Jesus. We just need to live the best we can and if we mess up sometime in our life (which we are going to do) we just need to ask God to forgive us and try to do much better the next time.

No, God would save Osama Bin Laden if he repented his sins, and trusted Jesus to save him. He could even continue killing people, and even though he didn't show it, if he truly, honestly believed, he would go to heaven.

What is complete repentence? If you're still a sinner it seems you haven't repented. That is what I'm having a problem with.

There are two kinds of sin: Iniquity and Sin of imperfection from our sinful nature. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." When we sin we come short of the glory of God. Conversely, anytime we come short of the glory of God, we sin. We have no control over those kind of sins but we still need to ask for forgiveness. Iniquity, on the other hand, are sins which we have full control over. Those are the things we must repent of. Repent means to agree with God that those things are sin and we must stop doing them. Things like stealing, lying, fornication, adultry; these are things we can decide to do or decide not to do. Repentance is deciding not to do those things any more. That's what we must do.

Repentance is "change of heart." If doesn't mean that you will not sin again.

Sin is separation from the will of God. We are all separated from the will of God through sin. All are sinners. period.

Reconciliation to God is available to all as well. But it is a free gift. It has nothing to do with doing good. It has everything to do with recognizing that we are sinners and that God sent His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross as payment for our sin. This is His sacrifice for us. All we have to do is to accept the free gift of Jesus' sacrifice (death on the cross) as payment for our sins.

Jesus is perfect. God is perfect. When God looks at those who have accepted Jesus, He sees Jesus in us... he sees perfection. Not that we are perfect -- we are sinners -- but that Jesus who we accept as payment for our sins is perfect. Jesus took the punishment that we all deserve. He stood in our place and suffered what we deserved to suffer. By accepting his death on the cross, we are saved from the eternal wrath of God.

"For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son so that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Grace is the act of God sending His Son as payment for our sins. It is through his Grace, not works, that we are saved.

What about fornication, stealing, adultry, and unbelief? Don't you think you'll go to hell for that? We must repent of ALL those things to go to heaven.

depends on your definition of perfect.....God made us each unique and different. Some have been lucky and have been given the gift of Faith. My belief is that we will be judge on how hard we have tried to do the best we can with the gifts we have been given"To whom much is given much will be expected" and God is the judge of that..remember the thief who was on the cross next to Jesus..Jesus said"today you will be with me in paradise"

The perfect way and only way is through Jesus Christ the Lord...

Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptised, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for remission of sins, and ye will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (DBY)

Acts 2:41 Those then who had accepted his word were baptised; and they were added in that day about three thousand souls. (DBY)

Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip announcing the glad tidings concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptised, both men and women.

From what Iv read of near death experinces... whatever you believe you will experince. If you believe nothing... then your soul (the intellegent electrical charge in your body that is what some consider a 'soul') is free to experince whatever .... here is a video you may appricate from the TED confrences where Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor describes what it was like to have a major stroke on the logical thinking side of her brain...

I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you're going to be judged, you know if you're good enough or not. Personally, I think that god, if he/she exists, is going to let us all into heaven.

God is omnipotent, no? How can anyone believe this and then believe that he'd cast you away for some menial shit that you've done in your life. We all have skeletons in our closet, but most of us are just doing what we feel we need to do to survive in the harsh world that is today.

The thing about living, is that you're not perfect.
    Only Jesus was perfect.
So, we're not, and I don't think we're expected to be even near perfect before we're gone from this world.
I personally believe that you can get to heaven simply from believing in God. Sins can be forgiven. If you know you're a sinner, believe in God/Jesus, and give your life over to God, then you should be good to go :]

God understands that people make mistakes...he won't punish you as long as you know what you did was wrong and will strive not to do it again.
