Do you have health insurance?

PPACA's individual mandate is going to tax you if you don't have health insurance and make over a certain income threshold and yes, regardless of what the White House says, it's a tax or it's unconstitutional. According to the White House the tax will only hit a few people; I just don't buy that. I think there are a lot of people out there who according to PPACA can "afford" health insurance who really can't.

So do you have health insurance? Please spread this one around a lot; to get a good idea of who has what for each income level, I need a lot of results.

I have two policies we pay for but in less than a year will be heading to the senior medicare program and than supplemental. I am not looking forward to it because I am apprehensive on coverage aspects. I am a diabetic and need meds and my wife needs meds as well for Krones disease. As we are both retired on fixed income I hope we are not buried in costs.

We did without a lot of things, but we and the kids always had paid up health insurance, yes....except for the 3 years when I offended a LESBIAN Physician's Assistant, Dr.wanna-be. INADVERDENTLY! I was NOT making any comment on her sexual orientation, in fact, I had NO clue she was a lesbian. NONE. But I did make an innocent remark that she was able to twist all around to say something different, and put some lies about me in my medical file that kept me from getting health insurance, until I found a Health Insurance company that understood the problem, and listened to my side. This whole thing just goes to show how personal bias and personal agendas can create all kinds of favoritism, and corruption in anything the government gets involved in. My company won't be doing any more hiring whatever, though, because we do not want to be the nannies of our employees, and pay for anyone else's health care. Who is hiring now? Nobody I know.

I have the best kind I have an HSA so while my deductable is rather high and I pay for most things with cash (from my HSA account) if something catostrophic happends I have limitless money for the care. OH and teh contributions to the HSA are tax deductable! We already were sent a notice saying that the HSA will not changed based on the new ACA and we should continue as we have

14K a year..have to buy my own in N.Y. as a Small Business owner. Emblem..it has really decreased benefits, increased premiums. IF I didn't have it, and I was in the Hospital, I'd go under..they will go after your property if you own anything and can't pay the bill. THAT is why I do NOT understand having a Gov. Penalty for not buying Insurance. If you CAN afford it, and do not buy it, you will be charged and yes, Hospitals will take your assets

But it might be cheaper to pay the tax. Businesses will drop insurance for their employees. Obamacaretax will cost more and more and quality of care will get worse and worse.
  • Evan Kane Fe... 2012/07/03 00:13:28

hmm..you say businesses will drop insurance for their employees? Not mine, because the law says I HAVE to automatically sign up my employees for government health care, even the ones who already have it, and like their health care companies. NOBODY likes this "nanny" state, but I don't like the fines either.

That's the odd extreme situation personally I never had to wait more than a couple hours and even that length is rare. Its a lot better than being dropped off on a street corner in skid row in a hospital gown because you have no medical.(i.e. Los Angeles a couple years ago.

You are correct that it will be a tax imposed on those who don't have insurnce. This can only be done though if the state that you live in votes to implement Obamacare. The Supreme Court ruling gives each state the right to opt out if they so choose and forbides the Feds from penalizing them in any way. The court also ruled that it is illegal to force someone to buy something that they don't want. So the geds can't call this a penalty so it now has to become a tax

It was always a tax. It was Obama spin trying to tell Americans that he wasn't screwing them. Obama's entire administration is based on thinking that Americans are basically stupid. The sad part about it is that almost half of them are.
