First amendment, I don't do it around children or nuns and that's just because I'm well behaved not because I have to.

Free speech. But I limit it to who I'm talking to. I don't go out of my way to intentionally offend anyone.

Nobody swore in my family. Never even heard any name calling or ethnic names.. But when I went to college and nursing school and into the world I gained enough to win a swearing contest. But they are just words and I choose not to use my vast vocabulary

Sure can, that is why we must remove the power of government to influence our lives.

Let them implode under their own idiocy. We currently have spent this nation beyond any means of correcting it. So once we are no longer a safe haven for investment(i.e. nations buying our debt) we will see government essentially shut down. Once government no longer has the ability to maintain dependency, the dependent will riot. That will give rise to those of us who know how to teach personal responsibility, to rebuild what this nation was.

What is this need for people to be vulgar. Most cases it shows a very limited vocabulary.

It is not a need to be vulgar, it is not granting any specific word, power. When words have power enough that they should be banned, we have lost one of the most important freedoms this nation was built on. If you can ban vulgarity in the public square, you can ban political and religious speech in the public square. Something our founders knew would happen.

Does swearing show intelligence? Does it show class? Does it prove you are tuff and not to be messed with? Hey, I'm as guilty as the next fellow for cussin, but not in front of my kids.

Correct, the role of government is only to protect the rights of all to speak. What happens to them after they speak is for them to deal with, not government.

Speech expresses thoughts. If I think someone is a stupid ass, why should I think of some roundabout phrasing to say to them, "You're a stupid ass."?

If you're concerned about my possibly offending the tender ears of your urchins; 2 things, your urchins swear as much or more than I do (whether you hear them or not), and keep them away from me and it won't be a problem.

Freedom of speech means freedom to swear; of course you shouldn't swear around kids but that's the ONLY exception.

However, I just read recently that a community in the US passed a law that: 'if you swear in public, you can be fined.' Otherwise, the First Amendment applies to speech.

There is no right to use foul language. It is not a freedom of speech issue, that was aout freedom of the Press and to speak in public. NOT to go around cussing all over. They never imagined there would be a time where all kinds of coarse behavior would be regarded as okay(only those that do it think that) the rest of us get tired of having to hear it!

If you grant government the power to determine what "words" are allowed, eventually you have no speech.
